Case Processing

N400
This is very informative. For Everyone and 2020 Spring Applicants Specifically. Got this from a friend. Hi everyone, I'm a May 2020 filer from Houston, TX here and I just finally got my interview scheduled. I'll share what I did and what I think helped move my file so that other can benefit as well. I filed in May 2020 during the lockdown which is the case for all of you here. When you file for N400, USCIS requests your A-file from NRC/FRC without which they can't move forward with your application. During the lockdown, both USCIS and FRC were closed so, either USCIS never requested your file or it was requested but the request was never processed by FRC. When they all re-opened, the file request just went in limbo. Everyone who filed in June 2020 and after had their applications processed normally since A-files were requested and delivered with no issues. I have contacted USCIS several times, filed outside of normal processing request, filed ombudsman request, contacted congressman, etc. none of which worked. The answer was that my application was stuck at NBC since they haven't received my file from NRC. A month ago I filed a FOIA request requesting my A-file (the entire file) which was received by NRC about a week or two ago. Two days ago, I got my interview scheduled. This is what did it form me. I learned about this from another April 2020 applicant who did the same thing and eventually got his interview scheduled. If you are one of those Mar-May 2020 filers who are stuck, go and file a FOIA request. Make sure you request your A-file. Basically you have to do the work that is supposed to be done by USCIS but you have to it to get your file moving. Good luck everyone!

Have hope they don't all take too long
I was originally concerned the process with my husband would take a long time because his family brought him here legally though his Visa had expired and he was only 14. I thought that little detail would make things difficult but apparently it barely left a dent. Because we have so much chemistry our attorney assured us that the process would go by smoothly. Besides that the only thing that concerned me was that we didn't have a lot of financial stuff together since he doesn't work, he just goes to college at the moment. So I tried to send as much stuff as I could, health insurance, life insurance, dental insurance, are bank account savings and checkings we have together, receipts of things we brought together along with that we sent a ton of pictures and anything to prove that our marriage and relationship is real. Everything was sent November 1st of 2021. Fast forward a few months later no RFE'S, he had two biometric appointments one for the i-485 and the one for the work permit ((don't know why they did 2 but I'm not complaining)) and as I type this I received the notification that our interview scheduled March 28th. Meaning if that goes well our case would have only took 5 months...wow. I'm sitting here reading all these posts freaking out expecting for this process to take 10,000 freaking years, especially since I'm in Los Angeles and all the posts I see that are in Los Angeles are people complaining that their process just taking a long time and my process only took 5 months. Knowing that my attorney will be with us gives us some peace of mind. Hope this gives others some hope to. if it helps anymore my attorney said that all of the times they say on the uscis website are not accurate that they usually would find the case that takes the longest and then use that as a reference but it's not 100% accurate since everyone's case is different so don't let that bring you down and worry about your case taking a millennia. ((Here's my timeline^^)) Send everything to USCIS : Wednesday, November 1st, 2021. Case was received for i-485 and i-130:  Tuesday December 7th 2021 Checks cashed: Monday, December 13th, 2021. Received receipts in mail for both i-485 and i-130:  Saturday December 18th 2021 Received a notice that biometric was scheduled: Saturday December 18th 2021 Biometrics appointment: Monday,January 10th 2022 Work authorization Case received: January 8th 2022 2nd Biometrics appointment: Thursday February 2nd 2022 Interview was scheduled: February 11th  2022 Interview: Monday March 16th 2022
