Case Processing
Removal Procedings after leaving USA before my Case was denied can
Hi everyone, I’m looking for advice or if anyone has faced a similar situation.
I left the U.S. in May 2024, and I had a pending I-485 application at that time. Just recently, I received a Notice to Appear (NTA) and was placed in removal proceedings, even though I’ve not been in the U.S. since last year.
My I-485 was denied on April 4, 2025, which was almost a year after I had already departed the country. I believe USCIS or ICE might not have updated my departure status and assumed I was still present.
Has anyone been in a similar situation?
• Can removal proceedings be issued if you’re no longer in the U.S.?
• What’s the best way to handle this?
• Is it possible to file a Motion to Terminate due to lack of jurisdiction?
Any guidance or shared experience would be really helpful. I’m planning to contact an immigration attorney, but would love to hear from this community as well.
Thanks in advance!
hey
Is it true that if my name is spelled wrong on the I-360 approval notice, the same mistake might show up again on my I-485 and green card? I asked my lawyer about this, and he told me it’s fine, that we can just write the correct name when we file the I-485, even though my I-360 was already approved. But I’m worried — should I request a correction now to avoid problems later, or is it really okay to just leave it like that?”

Final action date become current in June 2025. Glad it got sorted out within a month after that. Looking forward to holding the card in my hand soon!
Alhamdulillah.

asylee AOS
Hi Everyone! What do you think about this pause all the news say online? Do you know anyone that got their AOS ( asylee) approved since March 25th? If yes , did their asylum case got granted from a USICS officer or a IJ? I see people around saying that the ones that got granted by a IJ are the ones that are paused!
Im so confused as my case was granted by a IJ and I filed a couple of days before this pause. IDK what to think! Let me know your thoughts.

If anyone’s interested, I’m happy to share a detailed summary of our green card interview experience.
But for now, here’s a quick note:
We had our interview recently, and I can tell you the officer assigned to us was not friendly at all — very strict, very serious. It was a stressful experience, but we stayed calm, answered everything honestly, and followed all instructions.
Thankfully, even though it felt tense and uncertain at the time, the decision came faster than we expected, and we were approved without them asking for a single document — even though we brought a full folder and a photo album just in case.
If this helps anyone going through the process:
Be honest, be prepared, and stay calm — even if the officer seems tough.
Let me know if you’d like more details — I’m happy to share.
it’s been 1 year and 3 months and a half
hey guys, my spouse and I applied for for I130. PD is March 21th. our receipt date is March 27th. we haven’t heard from them since then. Come August it will be 17 month. we tried to expedite it last year in December through our senator. it did not work. we tried calling last year. they said it was 14 months now it says 17 months. we are at the Potomac service center. they moved us to the Vermont service center without telling us anything.
time is going by… when we log into our USCIS portal it use to show 14 months estimated time until decision. now it’s showing 4 months.
no news whatsoever, what should I do? please help 😞😞
AOS receipt notice
Hello,
Has anyone recently submitted their AoS application to the Elgin, IL lockbox and still waiting for a receipt notice via text or mail? How many days have you been waiting?
Also, for those who have received their receipt notice, how many days did you wait after your application was delivered to the service center?
