Case Processing
Processing delayed
My I-140 was approved in March 2023 and I was in South Korea and I selected NVC process in my I-140. But in June 2023 I came to USA on H1B visa and when my priority date came (Sept 2024) I along with my dependents applied for I-485 change of status, and in Oct2024 we went for Fingerprints/Biometric. It is almost a year passed but We still waiting for Green card. Is this normal? Our cases are at Chicago Field Office. I got two receipt notices one before Biometric and other after Biometric and receipt numbers are same in both notices but Alien numbers are different. It was problem only with my receipt not with my other dependents. what does that means? How to resolve that issue?
Could anyone help me on my issue?
Thanks

Hi everyone,
I wanted to share my green card timeline with you. I still can’t believe I got approved. I feel incredibly blessed.
I completed both my undergraduate and graduate studies here in the U.S. I never overstayed, never used any scholarships or government assistance, and have no tickets or criminal records. After finishing my graduate program, I was fortunate to find a job in health care and have been working ever since. I was first on OPT, then H-1B, and now on my H-1B extension that was set to expire in July 2026.
Throughout my career, I’ve earned several certifications. I’m not sure if that made a difference,
And I’ve always made sure to stay fully compliant with the law. Reading other people’s timelines here helped me a lot during the process, so I wanted to give back by sharing mine.

a few tip while waiting for your green card:
Make American friends, enjoy learning the culture, take on new challenges, work out, or study for a certification or test. Find something that helps you focus on growth instead of constantly checking for updates. It really makes the wait easier. 👏🏻
