The interview itself was short, smooth, and friendly. The consular officer asked questions to both of us — some directed to me and some to my spouse.
Here are the questions we were asked:
• When did we meet?
→ We shared the date and how our relationship first started.
• How did we meet?
→ Explained how we first got to know each other and how our relationship developed.
• When did we get married?
→ Stated the exact marriage date and confirmed the location.
• How many times did I visit after the marriage?
→ They wanted to confirm ongoing contact and visits after marriage.
• How did I go to the USA?
→ I explained how I originally entered the United States (visa type and process).
• Has either of us been married before?
→ Simple yes/no question — they check for previous marriages.
• Where do I work?
→ They asked about my current job and location.
• When did I go to the USA?
→ They wanted the date and context of my move to the U.S.
• Why was our case being interviewed in Zambia?
→ We explained the reason for transferring our case to the U.S. Embassy in Lusaka.
• When did we arrive in Zambia?
→ They asked when we entered Zambia for the interview process.
One important thing I learned today — if the beneficiary does not speak English or the local language, the embassy will not allow any third-party interpreter. Only the U.S. citizen petitioner is permitted to translate during the interview.
I actually traveled to Zambia to support my spouse for the upcoming interview, and I didn’t expect that the embassy would require me to interpret. Most U.S. embassies allow outside interpreters, so I had already arranged someone to help. However, the staff explained that only the U.S. petitioner can interpret for the beneficiary.
We were lucky that I was there; otherwise, the interview would have been rescheduled. So, if you’re in a similar situation — especially those who transferred their case from another embassy — be ready for this new procedure. Make sure the U.S. petitioner is available to attend and interpret if needed.
💡 Important Tip for Zambia Applicants:
When the NVC sends the appointment email, that date is not your actual interview date — it’s the document drop-off date. At that appointment, the embassy reviews your documents, and if everything is complete and up to date, they’ll then schedule your official interview date.
So, make sure your civil and financial documents are current and correctly prepared before that appointment to avoid delays!
I’m incredibly grateful to everyone in this subreddit. Reading your experiences helped us prepare so much, and it truly made a difference.
Wishing everyone still waiting for their interviews or approvals the very best — your time is coming soon! 💪💖

RFE Response Not Received by USCIS
Hello everyone,
I have submitted my RFE response for my pending I-485 case, which was delivered on August 7, 2025. My RFE response was actually updated I-693 form. After 1 month, I contacted USCIS (live agent through Emma) as there was no receipt notice. They told me to contact them after 60 days of delivery, so I contacted them again on October 6, 2025.
Based on my inquiry, recently I got a notice that USCIS didn't get my response, and they will deny my case if it will not be received by the deadline (October 23, 2025). Within 2 days, I have resubmitted my response, which was delivered on October 20, 2025. Still, there is no receipt notification so far.
For both shipments, it was submitted to the USCIS Pittsburgh Field Office. I have the shipment photo and proof of delivery as well.
How can I notify USCIS about this?
It would be really helpful if you could suggest what I should do in this scenario. Really appreciate your time.

Can I do WOM now if pd current in Oct
pd was current in Oct 01 2025. status is CRP. RD is 01/2024.
Can I WOM in November? Will it come with other risks like higher deny chance. I’m hesitant because because pd was just current recently. There will be a layoff in my company at anytime. My job is at risk currently.

Interview done
“Update: I just logged in to my wife’s account and found the I-130 approval notice on documents tab but the status didn’t change or didn’t receive a notification on email, does that mean my I-485 will be approved soon too?
Hello everyone! I just did my interview like an hour ago. Arrived there 10:30 and got in around 10:50 and it lasted around 25-30 minutes. The questions were easy and straightforward! “how did you guys meet” “who made the first move” “what did you guys do in the first date” “when did it become official” “when did you guys get married” “who attended the wedding” “where did you propose” “who’s living with you guys” “where do you guys live” “where did you go in your honeymoon” and then Yes or no questions for my I-485. I provided more pictures of us and reservations copies for the honeymoon flight and hotel. Then she said she’s gonna review my applications more and let me know if she needs more evidence and if not you should receive your approval in 2 weeks. Tucson AZ FO.

waiting for approval
Hi everyone,
I’m in the EB3 skilled category, and my husband is my dependent. Our priority date is March 14, 2023, and we had our I-485 interview on September 18. During the interview, the officer mentioned that the visa wasn’t available at that time and that we’d need to wait until October. It’s now late October, but I still haven’t heard anything back.
Has anyone else in the same category experienced something similar or received any updates recently?
