Case Processing
change of case status
Hello everyone,
I have a question about my I-485 case.
Last week my case status changed from “Case activity reviewed by USCIS” to “Your case is still being processed.”
I contacted a live agent through USCIS chat, and the agent told me that my case was transferred from the National Benefits Center to the San Antonio Field Office.
I already had my interview in 2024 for both forms I-130 and I-485.
My I-130 was approved, but my I-485 was not approved at that time because a visa was not available.
Now the agent told me that my case is in the queue for an interview, which confused me because I already completed the interview for the I-485.
My questions are:
1. Is it possible that USCIS will schedule another interview for the I-485 even though I already had one?
2. Has anyone had a similar experience where their case was transferred back to the field office after the visa became available?
3. Could this just mean they are reviewing my case again before making a decision?
Also, I am from one of the 75 countries under additional review, so I wonder if that could affect the process.
I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who had a similar situation. Thank you.
😊hola!

I-485 Biometrics Timeline
Hi,
I submitted my application for change of status on 11Mar26, notice received on 20Mar26 for both me and wife. I’m main applicant, and she’s derivative applicant.
My question is how long it will take to get biometrics appointment or notice, still no update at portal or API. Our status is IAF at API, updated on 18Mar26 in system for me and 23Mar26 for my wife.
Is it normal timeline ?
DIY asylum application experience sharing — just hoping to start a discussion and get some advice.
#I was detained at the border for about six months in 2024 and was granted asylum through the immigration court.
After that, I applied for my EAD (work permit) and SSN on my own.
In 2025, I spent about six months preparing and filing my green card application by myself, and received the receipt notice about a month later.
Then I completed biometrics in January 2026.
What should I expect next in the process, and roughly how long will it take?
Is there anything I should be doing at this stage?
Are there any important things I should pay attention to or avoid?
I’d really appreciate any advice or shared experiences.
