my friend went to the Green card interview on Friday in federal plaza New York’ officer asked him too many questions’ she review his whole asylum case again’ and asked him his whole story again of his asylum decoration’ his interview went more then 2 hours’ she also asked him if he ever worked here without work permit’ she tried to trick him in some questions’ my friend took his lawyer with him’ officer been little rude with his lawyer’ according to my friend officer checked every single thing including bank accounts’ his income source’ if he has company’what kind of company it is’ how much money he makes’ including proof of his relationship with organization he joined before asylum claim or politcal party he joined’ she asked him if he owes tax money to the government and how much it is’ she asked about his education and employment history’ DMV records then she asked him to sign a paper and she said her supervisor will decide what to do’ i thought i should share this with you so everyone prepared before interview or file a lawsuit as he did.officer told him you may get a decision in 3 months, but still up to the supervisor’ and your background check process’

Mi i-130 fue aprobada en Octubre, 2025, despues de ir a entrevista en Agosto, 2025… Ahora, Tengo mi segunda entrevista en tres semanas, en Tampa, para la i-485 (llene formularios por separado). Alguien ha asistido a una segunda entrevista? o que tal les ha ido en esa oficina?.. que puedes recomendarme a mi, y a mi esposo? mi inglés es bueno, pero no tan fluido (lo pienso un poquito) y llevaré a una conocida como intérprete, aunque no lo necesite en la primera entrevista, quiero estar más tranquila, que recomendación me das para ella? 🙏
traveling internationally with expired green card but with Form I-797 extension and a valid passport has anyone had any problems? would you recommend traveling?
I’m not sure and wanted to hear your guys opinions whether it’s safe to travel now or to wait, and if you did travel internationally did you have any issues?
Service Request
In 2024, I filed my C09 work permit renewal in a timely manner(2 years ago). Thus, I received a 540 day extension which expires this coming week. I contacted USCIS about it and they admitted that my petition was far outside of the processing time(which is 12 months), and filed a service request to assign it to an officer. Has anyone experienced this same type of delay? And if you filed a service request, to what extent did that speed up the approval/decision time?

I filed my WOM on 9/2 but still waiting. How long did it take you guys to get an update after filing?
My summons was served about a week after I filed my WOM, and the government attorney appeared that same day. How long did it take you guys to get a result after that?

working illegally while on F1
Hey guys, I’m asking for a friend. She’s currently on F-1 and has an AOS interview coming up. She did work without authorization in the past, but she’s still in school and is currently maintaining her F-1 status.
Her spouse is a green card holder and filed for her AOS.
We’re just wondering how the previous unauthorized will affect their case. Anybody with the same experience?they never disclosed working illegally on I 485.
Wife’s separate asylum case still showing as pending after she received derivative asylum — how do we withdraw it?
Hi everyone,
I’m hoping someone has been in a similar situation.
I was the principal asylum applicant, and my wife was included in my case as my derivative. My asylum was eventually approved, and my wife was also granted asylum as my derivative.
The problem is that my wife had also filed her own separate I-589 asylum application, and that case is still showing as pending.
After our asylum approval, my wife received an interview notice for her separate asylum case. Our lawyer contacted USCIS and explained that she had already received derivative asylum through my approved case. The lawyer asked them to remove/close her separate asylum case.
However, the case is still showing as pending, and she continues to receive Annual Asylum Fee notices for that case.
Then, three days ago, she received another notification regarding the pending asylum case.
What should we do to properly withdraw or close her separate I-589?
Should we send USCIS a signed withdrawal letter? If so, where should it be sent? Should we include copies of her derivative asylum approval and my asylum approval notice?
Has anyone successfully withdrawn a separate pending I-589 after becoming a derivative asylee?
We just want to make sure the separate case is properly closed and that we don’t do anything that could cause a problem with her existing derivative asylum status.
