traveling internationally with expired green card but with Form I-797 extension and a valid passport has anyone had any problems? would you recommend traveling?

I’m not sure and wanted to hear your guys opinions whether it’s safe to travel now or to wait, and if you did travel internationally did you have any issues?

@rose a i travel to Jamaica with my expired greencard and extension letter along with my passport, I even went in the us citizen line with my husband and daughter and the officer only ask if I'm carrying and KFC chicken and welcome us back home
