Hello, I have a question. Some time ago, I was given Medicaid through my U.S. citizen husband because I was pregnant, but I lost the baby (my doctor reported it to the insurance), and my insurance is still active to this day. I am still in the process of adjusting my status. Having Medicaid without being pregnant, does that count as a public charge?
I’m really nervous about this issue.
Buenas, pregunta.
Inquiry for safe travel with combo EAD
Last month, I received my EAD card with the I-512 Advance Parole endorsement. However, on my USCIS portal, the status of my I-131 (travel document) application still shows as “received,” with no updates yet.
I’m planning to travel abroad for 1.5 months. Is it safe to travel with just the combo EAD card? My visa stamping in my passport expired last year but EAD is valid, so would I need to get it stamped again before re-entering the U.S.?
applying for expedite: does it slow down your application? Recent application was denied.
Hi everyone, my immigration this year has taken a toll on me. I feel like I am living in a bad movie. My dad died in June and I got an emergency advanced parole, my uncle qdied in July and I did not return for that. My mother found out at the end of August that she has cancer in her thoracic spine and in her sternum bone. Canadian medical sucks for waiting and she has not even seen an oncologist yet. She is having a full bone scan tomorrow and had a full body and brain CT scan. They are looking for the primary source as her doctor does not think it originated in the bone and has spread from somewhere else.
I requested a expedite of my parole with a very short letter from her doctor. I also wrote that she is getting more tests done. I was denied as I did not meet the criteria. I guess I need to wait until she has surgery scheduled or chemo.
My immigration lawyer told me when I wanted to go back for my uncle that applying for expedited travel can slow your application as they “pull” your file. I think he was just trying to stop me from asking for my uncles funeral. Sorry I am super long winded on this. Has anyone ever heard of this? Applying to expedite or applying for two emergencies/expidite can affect the duration or outcome of an application to adjust status?
I think he was just annoyed dealing with me and all of this. But he was very supportive of the one for my mother. I will try again when I have more info about her prognosis. I am scared 😱 that all of this will prolong or negatively impact my case.

Annual Limit Reached in the EB-2 Category
Last Updated: September 9, 2024
The State Department, working in close collaboration with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, is pleased to announce the issuance of all available visas in the Employment-Based Second Preference (EB-2) category for fiscal year (FY) 2024. Maximizing these visas facilitates legitimate travel for individuals with exceptional ability and professionals holding advanced degrees. These individuals bring contributions across many industries that greatly benefit the U.S. economy.
The Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) limits the number of employment-based preference immigrant visas that may be issued within a fiscal year. Specifically, INA 203(b)(2) provides that the annual limit for EB-2 visas is 28.6 percent of the worldwide employment limit.
Since all available EB-2 visas for FY 2024 have been used, embassies and consulates may not issue visas in this category for the remainder of the fiscal year. The annual limit will reset with the start of the new fiscal year (FY 2025) on October 1, 2024. At that point, embassies and consulates may resume issuing immigrant visas in this category to qualified applicants.
AP filing
Hello, my i485 is currently in process. I did not file for EAD/AP in parallel but now I am going to submit in the applications. It looks like I have to stay in the US until my AP is approved. My wife has her own H1B visa but she did tag along with my i485 since my date was current.
If I file for my EAD/AP, can she also not travel outside US same as me? In the case where I only file for EAD/AP for myself?
