Hello, I have a question. Some time ago, I was given Medicaid through my U.S. citizen husband because I was pregnant, but I lost the baby (my doctor reported it to the insurance), and my insurance is still active to this day. I am still in the process of adjusting my status. Having Medicaid without being pregnant, does that count as a public charge? I’m really nervous about this issue. Buenas, pregunta.

you are allowed to have public benefits through your US citizen husband. They cannot stop your husband from applying for benefits. The whole point of the I864 is to keep US citizens from bringing people into the country and then just dropping them into society with no support…

@Lala z the I864 is a fear mongering form. I think it is being used to deter people from entering into fake marriages. None of what that lawyer told you was true. As long as your husband applied for Medicaid through honest means, it is not a problem. I think sending someone to a hospital without insurance is more of a public charge honestly.!

@K 🇺🇸 D 🇭🇳 Thank you so much for taking the time to explain everything to me. I was worried because my lawyer told me that after my abortion(few months ago), I should no longer have Medicaid. But my husband says that they probably kept it active because after the abortion I’ve had health issues and will need uterus surgery( in January). And that’s all due to the complications from my pregnancy. Then the lawyer said that this could be seen as me taking money from the state by using my medical insurance since I’m not currently pregnant.

hello I know this is so off topic. I have a case pending I-765 I believe, and i recently got a citation during summer for minor in possession of alcohol. I went out with buddies took a sip of my friends drink and got caught up. I got it dismissed. But i have had sleepless nights stressing. and my biometrics are tommorrow. how much could this affect my case?
