Case Processing
I-130
Hi everyone,
I filed separate I-130 petitions for both of my parents, who are currently living in Romania, in November 2023. Both cases are still pending, and we have not received a decision yet.
We contacted USCIS and also requested assistance through a senator’s office, but we were only told that the cases are still processing normally. It has been almost three years, and the waiting time is becoming very difficult for our family.
Is anyone else in a similar situation, especially with I-130 petitions for parents filed in 2023? How long have you been waiting, and have you received any recent updates or approvals?
Thank you!

Did an Emma agent ever tell you a USCIS hold was lifted from your case?
Has anyone here ever been told by an Emma/live USCIS agent that there had been an internal hold on their case and that the hold was later lifted, even though nothing about the hold appeared on the public case tracker?
If yes, could you share:
* which form/case type it was
* the date the agent said the hold was lifted
* whether the agent explained what the hold was related to
* whether there was any public update afterward
* how long after the hold was lifted you received another update or decision, if any
* whether you were from one of the countries affected by the recent enhanced screening / processing restrictions, if you’re comfortable sharing
I’m especially interested in people from the affected countries, but experiences from any USCIS case where an internal hold was later lifted would be helpful.

Asylum-based I-485 cases with FNG / second fingerprint update
For those who filed I-485 based on asylum, did anyone receive the FNG code / a second “fingerprints were taken” update after already having biometrics applied earlier?
If yes, could you share:
* the date of the FNG update
* whether you had any later public USCIS update
* whether an Emma live agent saw any internal activity after it
* whether an Emma/live agent told you the case had been transferred or moved to another office even though that transfer never appeared on the public tracker
* whether your case was later approved, scheduled for interview, or is still pending
Especially interested in cases from the affected / travel-ban countries, if applicable.

I’m looking for anyone in a similar situation with an F2B I-130
My priority date is February 8, 2019, and my case was originally paper-filed with a WAC receipt number. It was recently migrated to ELIS and assigned an IOE receipt number.
My priority date is now current, but my USCIS status still shows “Case Was Received” and I have not received an approval or NVC Welcome Letter.
Has anyone with a paper-filed I-130 that was migrated to ELIS in August 2026 received an approval after the migration, especially after their priority date became current?
If so, could you please share your ELIS migration date, priority date, approval date, and whether you received an NVC Welcome Letter?
Any category (F1, F2B, F3, F4, etc.) would be helpful.
Thank you!
Has anyone had an expedited VAWA-based I-485 case? How long after your interview did you receive a decision?
Has anyone had an expedited VAWA-based I-485 case? How long after your interview did you receive a decision?
My expedite request was approved, and I had my I-485 interview on July 2026. It has now been about two months, but I have not received a decision, RFE, or NOID. My congressional representative also contacted USCIS on August 28.
If you had a similar expedited case, how long did it take to receive a decision after the interview?
domestic travel question
Hi everyone! I wanted to ask if anyone here has traveled domestically within the U.S. by plane with a valid I-20 but an expired F-1 visa.
My I-140 has already been approved, but I have not filed my I-485 yet because my priority date is not current.
Has anyone been in a similar situation and traveled domestically by plane? Did you have any issues at the airport?
I485 Approval Vawa based?
