Did Trump instruct USCIS to slow down legal immigration to the US?
That may not be humanly possible. USCIS cannot possibly fuck something up that's way too fucked up already. Feel me?
Let’s say Trump calls USCIS.
Trump: So guys, let's slow down legal immigration processes like H1B. We are not changing anything formally, just slow it down.
USCIS: But it's already slowed down Mr. President. I mean, people wait decades.
Trump: Umm.. why can’t we fuck it up for them while they wait decades.
USCIS: But we already do that. When they apply for visa renewals, guess what, we randomly issue RFEs, sometimes to the extent of rejecting it, forcing them to leave or go for an appeal. Most of the time innocent law abiding H1B folks cringe for peace of mind.
Trump: I see. But you said "random".
USCIS: Well, when we renew visas we renew it months after the visas have expired. So these folks have a tough time renewing drivers license and other papers.
Trump: That’s interesting. What else?
USCIS: Now it gets more interesting, and this is funny. When we finally renew it, we do so only for a couple months, instead of 3 years. So these folks end up repeating this like a mouse in hamster-wheel.
Trump: That's funny. How are we doing with visa stamping when they go visit home?
USCIS: Oh boy (**laughs until choking**) did you say stamping. You need to come down here to talk about this. It's a whole lotta story. But let me tell you this, not only do we admonish them at the Consulate, we also try to send them back from Port of entry after a second scrutiny. This happens with each travel. We give them a near heart attack.
Here's the fun part - some of these folks haven't travelled to home country in decades because of this, lol!
Trump: Alright. Looks like we have it under control. I will check in later.
I mean, what else can Trump possibly say?
i saw this post on Quora, and thought i should share it!!
vawa denial
my vawa case is been denied over 2 weeks ago after 4years of waiting, I still didn’t get the denial notice letter from USCIS through mail. I’m worry about the time frame to file an appeal as it’s usually time sensitive for 33days only to file appeal.
Please, need some advices if anyone ever experiences such situations or case going through same thing? What are my options bcz I’m really worried. thanks in advance
Still waiting for I485 receipt
I485 sent on 10/8 along with 765 and tracking shows it was received on 10/10. But they have not cashed the checks and no receipt # either. Emma just forwards me to status check link which only shows 140 approval.
Colleague who sent around the same time got their receipt in about a week and is going to fingerprint next week.
Lawyer keeps telling me to wait but I'm getting anxious. What if they lost it and we need to file again? With the new administration there is always a chance of retrogression. Anyone in similar situation?
H1b approved but spouse on F2
Hi My H1-b has just got approved and my sevis ID has been canceled, when I applied for h1-b I didn't apply for spouse and hence she is still in F2 status. My question is that since the primary is not on f1 has she gone out of status? is there a grace period where I can apply immediately for h4, is she recurring unlawful presence days until then?
#h1b #h4 #f1 #f2

still waiting
our PD date is Nov 17, 2022; interview was December 15, 2023. IO refused but requested proof of the most recent flight; however the way she worded it was not correct. she asked for the proof of flight after our marriage which had been submitted as proof of our relationship. our case was returned to USCIS, reapproved and sent again to NVC since May 24, 2024, after checking the status of our case, they responded that the consulate refused it and is returning it to USCIS (CEAC showed the most recent update Nov 7, 2024). no one has ever contacted us for another interview or requested more evidence. has this happened with anyone else?
at this point I feel like it’s the consulate against USCIS but who would have the final say? if USCIS has approved it twice then they don’t see any issues with our case? I’ve called the consulate and they have always told me they cannot assist me with any answers and to contact USCIS. this has been since January.
Help?!
