#i130 #i485 interview experience
My wife (Natural born USC) and I went to our interview in Philadelphia on Monday 05/19. They recommended that we show up 30 mins before interview, we actually went in 45 mins early and we’re glad we did. Theres a security check point at the door and if it’s busy (almost always) there will be a line just to get into the building so definitely go in before the 30 min mark. After security, youll check in at a desk or window and then youll be sent to the waiting room for your interview. When our name was called my wife and I went down the hall to an office room and our interview began. He asked us for our IDs, passports, and my wife’s proof of citizenship, she used her passport. They ask you very basic questions about eachother like birthdates, where you live, etc. I warned my wife about talking too much, but she has the gift of gab so she made small talk and we learned very quickly why you dont. She mentioned our dog and he immediately asked me questions about her name, her breed, how old, etc. So if you are going to make small talk make sure you are prepared for extra questions pertaining to extra things you bring up. We brought extra copies of every additional evidence we brought with us and we were glad we did because the scanner wasnt working and we had to leave copies of evidence with him to scan later in the day. Additional evidence we brought with us were: joint car insurance, joint bank account statements for the past 3 months, my wife’s 2024 tax returns, joint credit card statements, joint phone bill, vacations plans and activities planned together in the near future (screenshots), and photos we took together since our application was sent in. He then asked those yes or no questions on the i-485. He told us we were approved before we left. Our lawfully app approved Tuesday 5/20. We got approved for the 2 yr greencard, because we are only married for a year. He explained the process of reapplying for the 10 yr greencard for us and how they send you a letter between the 120-90 days prior to expiration but NOT to wait for them to start that reapplication process. My wife also asked for an explanation on the public charge, it means if your spouse passes away or you get divorced and you rely on the American government to support you financially (SNAP, EBT, SS) you can be deported. You are supposed to check “yes” on that box. Hope this helps some people get a more detailed picture of the interview process. I’ll try to answer as many questions as i can in the comments!
long wait
hi everyone I wonder if anyone experienced something like my case:
first I'm married with a US citizen without no record and with a legal entry to us
I put my case in July 2022
them I got my work authorization approved them my i130 approved as well.
on February 2025 I got my interview and until now still waiting for a case decision and when you ask for enquiry it's moving back on the time because of they delayed process, honestly it's very frustrating and stressful not only me my entry family, my mom my sister and everyone who i love it's in here they all legally in this country it's just me ...not only that I paid taxes since day one I never did anything wrong I have business I employed people who depend on my company and me ...so I don't know what else to proof I also help the community in many ways. please let me know if anyone got something like this or still waiting since that long

USCIS Status Update: Card Production Started
Hi! I’m so happy to share that I received an update on my case — the message says “Your card is being produced” and a few hours later it updated again to “Fingerprints were taken” .
Has this happened to anyone else — getting “Card is being produced” first and then “Fingerprints were taken” a few hours later?

I130 finally approved!!! Thank you Lord.
My stand alone I130 from Nov 2022 was finally approved!!! We are so happy. We did not think this moment would come but it did. For those who are still waiting, your time will come. Keep the faith and continue to believe in each other.
