vawa
Hello everyone, I hope all of you are doing well both physically and mentally. I have an update on my I-485 application. I applied for VAWA in September 2021, and my VAWA was approved in September 2023. Two weeks ago, I received a mail for biometrics, and I went to get my fingerprints taken along with a photo. Yesterday, I received a notification in the app stating that the case was updated to show fingerprints were taken. My question, based on the experience of previous applicants, is what would be the next step—medical examination or interview? I have not submitted the medical exam since 2021.#vawa #i-485

I-485 APPROVED! F2A journey complete — full timeline (Cranbury, NJ) - AOS INDIA
It's official, approved! Wrapping up this series with the final post.
Quick context for anyone new here: F2A category, spouse of a green card holder, both of us originally from India, adjustment of status (AOS) since I was already in the US.
Full timeline:
I-130 filed: June 12, 2024
I-485 filed: September 5, 2024
Biometrics: October 2, 2024
I-765 (EAD) approved: October 4, 2024
I-131 (Advance Parole) approved: February 24, 2025
Interview: July 7, 2026, Cranbury NJ (New Jersey Central Field Office)
I-130 approved: July 7, 2026 (same day as interview)
FTA1 on I-485: July 7, 2026 (about 4-5 hours after interview)
Silent update (no new event, just updatedAt touched) on I-485: July 16, 2026, three times in one day
H008 (approval) on I-485: July 17, 2026, the very next day after those silent updates
I-485 Approval Notice dated: July 17, 2026
Total time from I-130 filing to full approval: just over 2 years.
One thing worth sharing for anyone obsessively refreshing the API like we were: the day before our approval, we saw three silent updates on the same day, meaning the updatedAt timestamp moved multiple times but no new event code showed up. At the time it was confusing, but looking back it lined up almost exactly with the case being finalized, since the actual H008 approval posted the very next day. So if you start seeing repeated same day silent updates after a stretch of nothing, that might be a good sign things are moving behind the scenes even before a new code appears.
Our FTA1 to H008 gap ended up being 10 days total, faster than most examples I found researching other people's cases (16-22 days seemed more typical).
We did not hire a lawyer. We prepared everything on our own, forms, evidence, interview prep, all of it. A big shout out to Kseniya from the Kseniya International YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@KseniyaInternational), her videos helped us a lot with understanding the forms and getting a sense of real interview experiences and petition details. We also leaned on other online resources and used AI to help organize our prep. The day before our interview, we did a mock interview with a former immigration officer through the Lawfully app, which helped calm our nerves and gave us a good feel for what to expect.
If you want more detail, here are our earlier posts in this series:

K1 Processing Slowdown
Does anyone have any idea why so few K1 visas have been processed over the past month? They were averaging at around 2,000-ish approvals per month when we submitted earlier this spring, then June was 980, and July just passed 100 and we’re 2/3 of the way through the month. Percentage approved hasn’t changed much, so it appears like they just aren’t processing applications at the same speed as before. I thought maybe the World Cup was part of it but wanted to know if anyone else has heard what’s going on. I keep praying that God gives us our approval quickly so we can finally start our life together!

God's Timing Is Always Perfect
I know it's hard to check that app every day, hoping to see an update. Trust me, I understand. But we have to remain faithful and stay positive because God does everything in His perfect timing.
While we wait, let's not forget to be grateful. We're still here. We're still breathing. We're still able to wake up each morning, walk, talk, hug our loved ones, and experience another day that so many people prayed for but never got to see.
This morning I thought to myself: if someone gave me a choice between being bedridden, lying in an ICU fighting for my life, or waiting longer for my green card, I would choose waiting without a green card every single time. That reminder put everything into perspective.
Yes, the waiting is hard. Yes, it can be frustrating. Some days we feel discouraged, and that's okay. But let's not allow frustration to steal our gratitude. Delayed does not always mean denied. God's silence does not mean He's absent. Even when we don't see movement, He is still working behind the scenes.
There are people praying to walk again. There are parents praying for one more day with their child. There are families praying for healing, for food, for a roof over their heads, or simply for another sunrise. When we remember that, our perspective changes.
Being grateful doesn't mean we don't have difficult days. It doesn't mean we don't cry or wonder when our breakthrough will come. It simply means we choose to trust God even while we're waiting. Faith isn't believing only after we receive the blessing. It's believing before we see it.
So today, instead of asking, "God, why is it taking so long?" let's thank Him for the blessings we already have. Thank Him for our health, our strength, our families, and for carrying us this far. If He has brought us through every difficult season before, He won't stop now.
If you're still waiting, don't lose hope. Your story isn't over. Every delay has a purpose, every season has a lesson, and every prayer is heard. Keep your faith stronger than your fear, because what God has for you will never miss you.
My prayer today is for everyone, those who believe and those who are still searching. May you find peace in the middle of your storm, strength when you feel weak, hope when you're discouraged, and comfort when life feels overwhelming. May every door meant for you open at the right time, and may every closed door protect you from what wasn't meant for you.
May God bless those who call on His name, and may those who do not yet know Him experience His love, grace, and peace in a real and personal way. May He guide your steps, protect your family, provide for your needs, heal your heart, and fill your life with purpose.
Let's keep praying, keep trusting, and keep believing. Our time will come when God says it's time, not a minute too early and not a minute too late.
No matter where you are in your journey, I pray that you never lose hope. Better days are coming. May God bless you all abundantly. Amen. 🙏❤️
GREEN CARD INTERVIEW
I had my interview July 16 and it went well. the agent just called me and asked me the list of questions of yes that was on the form I 485. Then he asked me about my life in the country where I was born and we even talk about his wife cause she is a teacher like me and we had a conversation about it. then he made me sign my answers and took me a picture and fingerprint. he never called my husband or asked me too much about him. he said that I was good to go but I asked him how do I know if I was approved and he just said check your mail. it’s been already 2 days and I can’t see nothing on my USCIS account 😭 . HOW LONG TAKES SINCE THE INTERVIEW TO SHOW THE APROVAL NOTICE?
Approved At Last! #EB1B #India
The long awaited approval finally came through!! Now just waiting for the physical card. Thank you so much to this community for actively participating and sharing your journey/stories. Happy to answer any questions!
