N400 Interview - Decision could not be made due to missing file :(
After almost a year of waiting on my N-400 interview, the moment of truth arrived on 10/22/21. At the onset, I could sense something was wrong. Due to COVID, i attended a virtual interview; however, the IO’s office was right behind a door, about 6-9 feet away from me. The IO emerged from her office twice to ask me for my green card, then reappeared onscreen to our virtual interview and informed me she had not received my file, but would continue with with interview plus exam questions. I obliged, answered some questions, and passed the exam. The IO advised that she could not make a decision on my case because of my missing file ☹️ she advised that I would receive a determination letter after my file was located and reviewed. She could not put a timeframe on how long it would take to receive my file, review and make a determination, but did state that upon review of the info she had, there should not be a problem with approving the case. Ugh, talk about utter and painful disappointment. Then...I wake up the following morning to an email from USCIS stating “we have taken an action on your case.” Kinda excited, kinda nervous, I login to my account and find no new updates. I’ve read on other threads that uscis does have delays with updating online accounts. It’s been 3 days since I received the email notification and still no updates. I’ll continue to cross my fingers and wait. Now, my question is - who has had a similar experience? What was your outcome? One observation I had with the email notification was that it did not “require my attention” - which was the type of message I got when there was updates about biometrics and interview scheduling. I’m hoping the unknown status update is just an oath scheduling. Pls share if you experienced similar!
