Marriage Green Card Case Approved! (Queens, NYC)
Hi everyone, I filed my case last April 2021 and I had an interview yesterday afternoon.
(F-1 to permanent resident)
We met in 2015 as friends in college and we started dating in 2018. We got married June 2019, so the interview date was over than 2 years of our wedding date.
We thought the interview didn’t go well because the officer was a bit scary and we were nervous. So we gave him wrong answers (mostly my spouse;citizen)
I could see my wife was so nervous so I just tapped her shoulder and told her “it’s okay” even though I know she gave him wrong andswers.
The officer just moved on to next questions and he didn’t ask me have you ever questions, he only asked “have you been arrested?” and I said no.
Here is the list of the questions we were asked
To citizen:
- Full name
- Full address
- Current work and position
- Have you met spouse’s parents?
- their names
- where do they live?
- where your spouse was born?
- spouse dob
- spouse previous work and position
To application:
- Full name
- Full Address
- Spouse name
- spouse dob
- spouse salary
- spouse parents’ name
- spouse parents’ occupation
- where do they live?
- how much money that our household made last year?
- How my spouse got permanent residentship and when did she gained citizenship?
And he asked us any additional evidence or proof of our relationship, so I handed him a bunch of documentations each by each as telling him what kind of evidence it is.
- Lease Agreement
- Renter’s insurance
- Con-ed bill
- Wedding ceremony officiant contract
- 2020 Tax joint filing
- Joint bank account (first 3 months and past 12 months)
- Amazon Prime (screenshot)
- Airplane tickets that we traveled together
- 100 photos (he let us choose 3 photos and he took it for the record)
- Wedding ceremony album.
And he asked one more time after he quickly went through the evidence “anything elese?”
I brought 2 letters from our best friends as affidavit letter of support and I handed the letters to him
“I know I don’t have to submit affidavit letters of support, however, it’s been over 2 years of our marriage started so I thought it might help for the process. Here are 2 letters from our best friends”
And he said something but I couldn’t hear it because of the mask and the plexi glass between him and us.
He said “well this is it, I’m gonna review it from now, we might bring you guys back for the stoke interview, or request more documentations, good luck”
And we said thank you for your time.
An hour after the interview, my gut told me to check the status and I chekced, boom! the status changed to “new card is being produced” and 30 mins ago, it changed to “case was approved”
Don’t lose hope y’all. Please bring as many evidence as you can. Be polite to officers. You’ll get a good result!
They treat same-sex marriage as the same as heterosexual marraige, so chin up and be proud, my LGBTQIA people!

N400 Interview
To all:
I had my N400 Interview today in Santa Ana. My appointment was for 1:30PM and I arrived 15 mins prior as instructed. The officer called me in at 2:45. He was very nice and professional. My attorney was on the phone. I did the Civic test first and then the oral and written and no problems. Don't ask me what questions he asked as I don't see the point in sharing as each officer is different. We went through my application and asked the basic stuff for eligibility. What followed was the background check and after he approved me application. Total 15 mins.
I did see an update in my portal shortly after telling me to expect a oath date, time and location within the next 30 days, so be patient.
