My case hasn’t update for 508 days is that normal?
Hi everyone, I wanted to share my situation and see if anyone else is in the same boat. My asylum-based green card case has been pending for 508 days with no updates at all. I know delays are common, but I’m starting to worry if this is still normal.
From what I’ve read, asylum I-485 cases can take anywhere from 12 to 40 months, but many people seem to get theirs in about a year or so. Mine is already past 16 months, and I haven’t heard anything.
👉 Has anyone else experienced this kind of wait time for asylum adjustment? How long did your case take? Any advice on what I should do next?

Changes in Case Processing Times
ALERT FROM USCIS WEB:
“USCIS processing times for certain form types may no longer reference a specific service center location (for example, Vermont Service Center). We are in the process of adjusting all processing times for service center-related forms to now list “Service Center Operations (SCOPS).” Service Center Operations has expanded its capability to process casework at multiple locations, at various points in time, based on business needs and staffing requirements. Therefore, listing a specific location is no longer an accurate representation of where a case is processed. ** We are adjusting our case processing time metrics to provide the most accurate and up-to-date information by form type.
While certain form processing times are now listed under Service Center Operations, you may continue to receive correspondence from USCIS listing a specific service center location.”
Today, processing time of Form I140 for EB2 NIW is 17.5 months
GC Approved. Trust God's Timing
Hello Everyone,
I’m beyond grateful to share that my Green Card has been officially approved! 🌟 I filed my VAWA petition and I-485 concurrently back in May 2021, and after over 4 years of waiting, praying, and hoping, it finally happened.
To everyone still waiting for your VAWA or I-485 approval, please don’t lose heart. I know how heavy this journey can feel, the silence, the delays, the anxiety. But I’m here today as living proof that God’s timing is perfect, even when we don’t understand the wait.
- Sometimes the delay is not a denial, it’s just divine preparation.
- God sees your pain, your courage, and your perseverance.
- And when the time is right, He will make it happen.
Keep trusting, keep praying, and keep moving forward. Your story is unfolding exactly how it’s meant to. I’m praying for each of you and can’t wait to celebrate your approval one day too.
Stay strong in faith. Your miracle is on the way. 😇
