Updating address in USCIS online account after filing i-485
Hi everyone,
I’m planning to apply for Adjustment of Status (EB2 NIW) in April, and I have a question about changing addresses while the application is in process.
My current lease ends on June 30, 2026, and I’ll be moving to a new place in July (likely in a different state) since I’ll be starting my PhD in August. This means I’ll need to update my address with USCIS after I move.
I’ve come across several posts where people mentioned that even after updating their address, important notices—or even the green card—were still sent to their old address. That’s honestly making me a bit anxious.
For those of you who changed your address while your AOS/green card was pending:
- Did USCIS successfully send your documents to the new address?
- How did you update your address (online account, AR-11, both)?
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences or any tips to avoid missing important mail.

hello all, I do have a quick question, I have an approved vawa from 2023 and still waiting for i485 approval, had my gc interview last year June. I’m considering going back to school for my Master Program and I was wondering is okay to use financial aid with the current situation to fund school, or even work out a payment with school.

OPT EAD Delayed
I applied for my post OPT on October 29, 25 and March 13, 26 is the day to communicate with the USCIS. previously the center was Texas, since when I contacted on March 13, 26, I got reply as case was moved to Potomac Center. Still, it showing, I have to wait another 2 months. Now I almost completed 5 months, still no EAD approval notice. Worried either to wait for the update or go for premium processing. Here is another, my lease ends next month, considering next lease. Does it affect my process, If I change my address? #OPT #EAD #F1 #Immigrant

Hey everyone, I have a question about my case and I’m a bit confused about what’s happening next.
My SIJ case was approved, but I also had a pending asylum application. Recently, I got an update saying that my application was closed and forwarded to the immigration court for adjudication.
Does anyone know what this means in my situation? Is this normal after SIJ approval? What should I expect next in the process?
I’d really appreciate if anyone who’s been through something similar can share their experience. Thanks!
