Case Processing
Asylum based I-485 and WOM!
Hello everyone,
I’ve been in this group for a long time and have seen many people with similar timelines receive approvals. At the same time, many of us are still waiting. My I-485 has now been pending for 23 months. After giving it serious thought, I’ve decided to move forward with filing a writ of mandamus next week due to the prolonged delay.
One question I had was whether the current political situation in my home country would affect my case, since the party I was previously affiliated with is now in power. I consulted with a couple of attorneys, and they both advised that this does not create a legal issue in my situation. And, my case was granted by an IJ in 2023.
Every case is different, of course, but I wanted to share my plan and see if anyone here has taken a similar step or has any insight to offer. Wishing everyone patience and good news soon. Thanks.
Sharing Lived Immigration Experience
I joined this community because I know how isolating immigration proceedings can feel. I’ve been through detention and court myself, and I understand the uncertainty that comes with waiting on decisions that affect your family and future.
I believe in preparation, respectful advocacy, and the importance of competent representation. I’m here to share perspective, offer encouragement, and connect with others navigating similar paths
Normal Timeline
So I was starting to get worried because I didn’t get any updates from my receipt after a year and now I’ve gotten like 3 updates in just 1 week the most recent being approved petition and it being sent to department of state, did the recent updates just go by really fast or it’s a normal timeline 👀 how soon could it be for the interview 😅
