Case Processing
I-751 divorce waiver — anyone self-filed without an attorney? (already filed joint)
Has anyone here successfully filed an I-751 divorce waiver without an attorney?
I’m planning to switch my case from a joint filing to a divorce waiver, but I’m a student and I can’t really afford a lawyer. I’m just trying to see if people have gone through this process on their own.
For context, I filed my I-751 jointly in Oct 2025 while still legally married. We lived together from Dec 2023 to Nov 2025. However, we separated in May 2025, and I stayed in South Korea for about 5 months before returning to the U.S.
On paper, we were still married during that time, but we were already separated in real life.
I’m mainly looking for experiences from people who filed a divorce waiver without an attorney and how their process went.
Recent update
My wife has been waiting since June 2022. We had our interview June 2023 and since I was LPR case was not approved then due to visa bullentin. In November 2025, got RFE for outdated Medicals. Since then about 7 months no update until today after consultations with our congress man. I saw we have take an action on ur case only to check and its now saying we are still processing your case. Has anyone been in this situation and what can i expect next or do. Thank you
Eb3 Unskilled Waiting time.
As we move deeper into Fiscal Year 2026, a pressing question remains unanswered: when will we begin to see a meaningful number of approvals in the EB-3 unskilled category?
Despite reaching the midpoint of the fiscal year, approvals appear significantly limited. If this current pace continues, it raises serious concerns about overall visa utilization. Are we heading toward a scenario where only 3,000–4,000 visas are approved, leaving the remainder unused?
In previous years, particularly around April and May, we witnessed a noticeable surge in approvals. However, this year—even April has fallen short of expectations. This inconsistency becomes even more puzzling when priority dates continue to move forward, while many applicants with later priority dates are still awaiting decisions.
Is there any clarity or insight into what is driving this trend? Understanding the current approval patterns is critical for those of us closely following this category.

I have filed an I-130 application under F2A category back on April 3, 2024. Our priority date is already current and until now we were still waiting for our I-130 approval for us to be able to proceed to consular processing. Any similar cases to mine? May I know your experiences?
