Insurance
Hi everyone,
My mother is immigrating in December from India. She has got her greencard approved.
Once she comes to USA as a greencard holder, will she be eligible for Obamacare? She is old and she might not go out for work and we were wondering if she is eligible for Obamacare.
If not, what are the cheap and best medical insurance to buy? how much will it cost?
Thanks in advance
would getting unemployment benefits risk us citizenship application for existing green card holders?
just curious. I’m a current green card holder through marriage. in this economy want to be prepared for anything. I read that unemployment is technically an insurance and not the same as public charge - so it shouldn’t be a problem. however, what is it like in reality with USCIS?
Credit Card debt consolidation
Hello Everyone,
I have my i485 pending (EAD approved). I was in F-1 student and have my i485 pending through GC- holder spouse. I am trying to apply for credit card debt consolidation but I am confused if that will hurt the immigration process (most probably during interview). I also graduated and will be starting to work from upcoming month.
Unemployment benefits during I-485
I have filed for my I-485 via family based petition. I received my EAD in September, and still waiting for my green card. Interview was scheduled in October and waiting for my PD to become current.
My question is, can I file for unemployment benefit. Also, is it ok to file for unemployment benefit, as I havent received my Green Card?
Credit card
Hi everyone.
I am trying to use my credit card as proof of valid marriage and need some advice regarding this matter.
Thanks to my H1B, I have a few credit cards and last year I added my husband's name to my credit card. After that, he received a credit card in his name but his name hasn't been added to my card statements yet.
Do you have any advice on how I could provide proof for this?
Credit card or opening a bank acccount
Hello,
I have a question about making a credit card or opening a bank account.
I'm a green card applicant waiting for an interview. I recently got my EAD and SSN only for work purposes. I was curious if I could open a bank account or get a credit card to build credit right now. Would it be safer to wait until after my interview?
Any advice would help. Thanks in advance.
Updating status on the bank
Hope my question fits this category.
I’m on the last step to receiving a green card, and I got a question in my head.
Do I need to update my status on the bank after becoming a green card holder? If so, how can I do this? Is it automatically updating?
It seems like it’s quite early to ask this, but I hope it’s better to know now. Thanks!
Opening joint bank account
Hi guys, I’m trying to open a joint bank account with my husband.
We tried to open it on Bank of America, but they are requesting proof of address which is making a complicated situation(utility bills in landlord’s name, me not being added to the lease). We don’t have SSN also.
How can we get through this? Are there any banks that only require proof of id? Please let us know if you've got anything.
Thank you
Health Insurance
Hi, I'm currently filing for I-944 and have a question about it. My health is currently completely fine and personally do not think I need a health insurance at the moment. But would not having one raise a red flag for my case? I was planning on adding myself on to my wife's insurance but we were planning on waiting a couple of years.
Would it be better to put myself on my wife's insurance now or would it be okay to add myself later? Or do I need to have my own?
Any advice would help. Thanks
Is it okay to file tax as married-separately?
Hi, guys. My wife and I have filed for a marriage green card and we just have our interview left. I have a debt with the irs so for last year's tax filing, I was advised to file as marriage-separately.
Would filing separately negatively impact our chances with the USCIS?
