Form I-824 for derivatives abroad. Does it help to expedite the case requesting for an in person appointment?
Hi Lawfully family, I would like to ask if you guys recommend trying an in person appointment at USCIS to ask to my son’s I-824 be expedited. We are living apart for almost 5 years since I moved to the united states and lived an abusive relationship. It wasn’t easy and it’s really hard not being able to watch him grow, besides some urgent matters: he self-harmed a little while ago, upset for being apart from me and because the situation with his father in Brazil it’s difficult. Please give me some advice to bring him sooner! I got my green card on February and applied for his I-824 right away… Thank you so much!
APPROVED!!
It was finally approved, and we’re free from the process!

I-140 concurrent filling
My employer filled I-140 and I-485 concurrently, and I-765 and I-131 concurrently in July 2024 to National Benefits Center. I got RFE for I-140 in February 2025 and employer responded a couple days ago in May 2025 and status changed to “Case is actively being reviewed by USCIS”. The rest of my cases also show “actively being reviewed” status for 256 days now after my biometric appointment. Does anyone have similar experiences at NBC and how soon after RFE filling case gets approved/denied?
interview
My interview was on March 14th, so it’s almost been two months and I still haven’t received any response. The interview took place in Orlando with my American husband. Does anyone know if there’s a deadline for getting a decision after the interview? Is this kind of delay normal? How long does it usually take to hear back after the interview?
