Considering EB2-NIW? Read This First.
Many people are interested in the EB2-NIW route, but most don’t understand what actually makes a case strong.
EB2-NIW is not about having a degree alone. It’s about impact, national interest, and clear evidence that your work benefits the United States.
Over time, I’ll be sharing:
• What USCIS really looks for
• Common EB2-NIW mistakes
• How professionals & entrepreneurs can position themselves better
• Business and investor visa insights
If you’re serious about U.S. immigration and want clarity not confusion, follow this space and feel free to ask questions.
Positivity is key!
The decision is God's hands not the administration. Stop being negative. There is power in the tongue. I see some people's post being stressful, discouraging and I know its hard. I got a pending vawa and I haven't seen my kids in years but I know this vawa can't pend forever. Happiness will come. Our life has been paved out by God and we have to have faith and rest on his word and be patient. Pray and keep praying there will be light at the end of the tunnel.
I-485 Marriage-Based (CR1/IR1) — Interview Waived on MyProgress, but Emma says “In line to be scheduled” (Houston FO)
Hi everyone, I’m posting to see if anyone has had a similar experience and if their I-485 interview ended up being waived.
Important background:
I filed my I-485 (marriage-based) and later found out I was in removal proceedings (we did not know at the time). Because of that, my I-485 was administratively closed and my Advance Parole was denied due to USCIS not having jurisdiction. The good news is that my removal proceedings were terminated/dismissed by the Immigration Judge, and USCIS regained jurisdiction over my case around Oct 20, 2025.
Timeline / details:
• I-485 filed: May 8, 2023
• EAD approved: December 2023
• I-130 approved: January 28, 2025
• Medical exam: submitted with the original filing
• Married: November 2022
• Petitioner: my wife is a U.S. citizen
• No RFE so far
• I uploaded my Immigration Court dismissal/termination order to my USCIS account
What’s confusing me:
My MyProgress tab previously showed Step 3 (Interview) as waived, and it looked like I was already on Step 4 (Decision). But when I contacted USCIS/Emma, I was told my case is in line to be scheduled for an interview at the Houston Field Office.
Question:
Based on these facts (approved I-130 + court termination letter uploaded + no RFE), is there still a chance my I-485 can be approved without an interview, or does being “in line to be scheduled” mean the interview is basically guaranteed?
The other thing is, would I get a conditional green card under these circumstances?
If anyone had a similar situation (especially with removal proceedings being terminated), I’d really appreciate hearing your experience.
Thank you!
