Age Gap/Interview
Hello everyone,
I hope you are all well and healthy!
I am the petitioner, and I married my husband during his vacation visit to his family. We have known each other for about seven years and have visited each other multiple times. Our connection grew stronger as we were both caregivers for our sick parents. When he was about to return home, I stopped him from going to the airport, and we got married instead. Unfortunately, our small wedding was canceled due to the rise in COVID cases, and we decided to save the money for a vacation once he gets his green card.
Nine months after our marriage, I obtained an attorney and filed his paperwork. He received his advanced parole, EAD card, social security, and ID. We live together, and despite a 23-year age gap (I, the wife, am older), we share the same religion, culture, beliefs, and language. My previous marriage ended in divorce due to infidelity and abuse. My husband and I share many interests, get along well, and enjoy our daily activities together. We are very attached, and he only leaves my sight when he goes somewhere with my brothers.
We have integrated our lives significantly, sharing three joint bank accounts, utility bills, life insurance, health insurance, car insurance, and house insurance. We go to the same family doctor, have pictures together, share a phone plan, and have met each other’s families. He spends more time with my family than I do.
The only Request for Evidence (RFE) we received was for a sponsor and medical since I am retired. I had previously sued my employer and received a large settlement, which I transferred to my offshore account. We submitted the requested information, and a year later, we received an interview date for the I-130 and I-485. This is our first interview.
Age is just a number to us, and we don't see the 23-year difference as significant. I never wanted to be alone, and my husband truly cares for and loves me. We are very close, and my family supports our marriage. However, we are aware that USCIS might raise concerns due to the age gap, which makes us nervous. We've been living together for three years and know everything about each other, but we both have general anxiety and take medication, which makes the interview letter anxiety-inducing. I've heard scary stories about these interviews and am worried they might try to trick us, even though our marriage is genuine.
I’m reaching out to see if anyone has been in a similar situation (with an older female and younger male) and what to expect during the first interview. We have an excellent (yet costly) attorney who will be present at the interview.
We believe we have sufficient documents and proof of our relationship. We know everything about each other and would appreciate any advice or support.
Thank you!

Two received dates?
after my interview I got NOI and I responded Jan30 so the last status on the website is:
January 30, 2024
Response To USCIS' Notice Of Intent Was Received
On January 30, 2024, we received your response to USCIS' Notice of Intent for Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status. We are reviewing your response.
and it has been the same for months last week a little note underneath that status appeared as follows:
Response received on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 10:49 a.m. PDT. We will review the evidence.
Does that mean they just logged it in or they just assigned it to someone? if this had happened to you before: how soon after did you receive a decision?
July 2023; Approved
Hello everyone! My case is finnally approved!
First time I applied in October 2022 and my case was denied because I didn’t send an RFE (request was not posted in my USCIS online account and the postman also didn’t bring the physical letter). I refilled the application in July 2023 and yesterday it was approved without interview and RFE.
I’m very happy! best of luck to all of you!
