please help
hello community I’m having issues with my drivers license because during my immigration journey I filed for tps ( temporary status ) 1st almost a year later went by I then filed for my marriage based green card. I filed my I-130 electronically so I received a receipt and a number immediately but and I received my receipt for tps after months of waiting like a few months after I filed my I-485 . I ended up with 2 different A-numbers and had biometrics for both cases like a week apart during the same month. I ended up getting my work permit from the TPS and I went to apply for my ssn. few months after I received my work permit form my green card case where they also sent me a different ssn with a different SSN number. I ended up keeping the 1st number from my TPS case and went to the SSA OFFICE to let them know what happened and they confirmed I can keep the 1st SSN. since I have already open everything as in credit and work history on it. I went to the dmv after I officially got my green card to renew my drivers license and update it from temporary to the 10 years license they keep giving me a temporary permission to drive on a white piece of paper every 2 months because they keep saying I was supposed to receive my license in the mail from Tallahassee for background check etc. every time I go to the dmv when the 60 days on the paper is up they try to bypass the system and it’s not allowing them to give me my license because they says I’m not an immigrant which I am I have a 10 year green card. it’s stressing me out from feb 2024 now almost august 2024 6 months of up and down and no answer as to what to do. I asked the lady at dmv if I should reach out to anyone she said no

if you are in Florida the best advice I can give you is to go to your local tax collector’s office. they’ll be able to help you and print your drivers license on the spot. where are you located?. also please don’t say or mention anything that you should not say. keep doing what you’re doing using your old ssn do not by any means use the other one

no, it must be the tax collectors office in your county. for instance I’m in Pasco County so I look for the pasco county tax collectors office.

literally not much worse than dealing with the DMV. MAYBE USCIS but it’s gotta be a close second.
can you not apply for a new drivers license (not renewal) with the SSN / green card? it does seem weird that you have two SSNs. maybe you need to go to SSN office and talk to a different person because that seems like an opportunity for someone to have 2 sets of credit history etc. @ma ma

Your TPS application came after you filed an i130, which means the TPS A number voided the I130 A number. It is an easy fix, but Americans do not like to work.

@favor me I know this is really bothering me. driving was my 2nd source of income door dashing and doing Instacart because I have a toddler but I can’t do those because I need the hard copy not a permission slip to drive. I’ve been in desperate search of a over night part time job because of this and no luck so I feel stuck

Can you walk into the DMV and try to talk to a supervisor? Bring all the application receipts and your green card.

@w s 🇨🇦🇺🇸 it is complicated the dmv can’t get pass the system unless the issue is dealt with. the lady at the dmv tried helping me but wasn’t successful.
