Green Card approved after Interview
Hi Everyone. Thought I'll share my experience with the interview process. We had our interview yesterday. The USCIS lady called us into the room and made us both turn our phones off. Then we had to take an oath of truth. Then she explained that marriage fraud was a crime and asked us if we wanted to withdraw our application. We had no reason to be scared as ours was a genuine marriage. Then she made us sit about 2 chairs apart from each other and asked for our passports, drivers license, birth certificate, lease agreement, car insurance, joint savings and joint health insurance. We had so many other documents too but she was like don't give stuff unless I ask you for it. Then She asked my wife if the i130 was already approved (it wasn't). She told me not to nod or have any other reactions while she asks my wife (US Citizen) questions about the i130. She asked her how we met, how long we dated, why we decided to marry, how long was our lease when we first moved in together and do we have any photos together and with family. She looked through the photos but didn't ask any questions on them. Then she started the i485 portion with me. She asked if I dated anyone else before my wife, why I didn't apply through my job (I could have but that would have been a lot longer), and asked me basically all the crime related questions on the i485 form where you have to say no. She did not have any of the usual questions I was expecting like my wife DOB, her parents name, who cooks, which side of bed etc etc. The interview went on for about 45 mins. In the end, she said everything sounds good and we should be getting an approval notice by the end of the day unless there were any other problems. We got home and found the i130 was already approved. The i485 only got approved the next day after some waiting. I wish you guys all the best in your journey and thank you for all the support. May God bless you all with happiness and success 🙏.
