Hello everyone, I would like to file a Writ of Mandamus on my own (without an attorney) against USCIS regarding my asylum-based green card application. I filed my Form I-485 about 20 months ago, and since then I have not received any meaningful update or decision. Has anyone here successfully filed a Writ of Mandamus pro se (without a lawyer)? If so, I would really appreciate it if you could share the steps, any templates you used, or any advice that could help me through the process. Despite the long delay, I remain patient and have faith. I truly believe that taking this step will, God willing, bring me closer to finally receiving the decision I've been waiting for after such a long time. Thank you all in advance for your help and support. I sincerely hope everyone here receives the immigration benefits they have been waiting for.

@Mohamed adam filed a writ of mandamus pro se for my asylum-based I-485 as well. It is possible to do it without an attorney, but you must carefully follow your federal district court’s rules, properly name and serve the required government defendants, and clearly explain the delay and the relief you are requesting. A mandamus does not guarantee approval; it generally asks the court to require USCIS to make a decision. I’m not an attorney, but I can share the steps I followed based on my personal experience.
