GC approved, NBC, Mount Laurel NJ FO
Hi all,
Finally got approved yesterday. It took pretty much exactly 9months, which was the “middle of the curve” when looking at the probability bars of the I-485 for NBC, so no surprises, neither pleasant nor unpleasant.
Some additional points:
- I got my EAD about 3 months ago, without AP, no combo card.
- I got a “notice of intent to deny” as we had not submitted the bona fide evidence as we expected to bring that to the interview.
So we sent it, very quickly after that (a few days) we got the RFE for the medical exam. When I sent the medical I-693, its receipt was confirmed the same day as it was delivered by UPS to USCIS.
- Two days later the case was approved. (Interview waived.) Mount Laurel NJ Field Office. (My case must have gotten transferred from Newark FO.)
- I never inquired or asked to expedite my case or talked to Emma.
- AP still pending, so I wouldn’t count on getting it before the GC, but I read about some people on here who are getting combo cards, but was not the case for me.
For me, it helped to focus on the dailiy activities and not think about it every day and to not check this app all the time.

case transferred to USCIS headquarters
I spoke to live agent on 1/24/23 and they told me that my case moved from Potomac to the USCIS headquarters. I never received a letter or notification about the transfer. It has been almost 3 months with no update. I put in a service request on 2/13/23, still no update. Has anyone else experienced this? My PD is 12/13/21, FO Brooklyn, USC and my husband lives here. Can I apply for OPT while pending I-765 based on I-485?
Hi, I applied for a work permit through a marriage-based green card on November 28th, 2022, and I just now realized that it might take 15 months to get approved (compared to the 4-6 months I initially thought).
I am graduating in May and am interviewing for jobs right now. I am terrified of staying off I-20 status, and not being able to work (+ not being able to drive). Can I apply for an OPT (4-week estimated wait time) while I have a pending I-765 based on marriage?
I read somewhere that it could give confusing/opposing intent as one is an immigrant while the other is a non-immigrant, but I also read that the worst case would be the denial of OPT but no effect on the green card process whatsoever. Some have even said they have done so successfully. Your thoughts???

I would like to share with you , this Monday March 27 I got an email from USCIS requesting to send them the medical record, I send it the same day on Monday and was delivered the next day on Tuesday. I am waiting for any update . I hope to get approve it with no interview . #I485 #I130 #newark

I am so happy to tell you guys that finally we are approved. It hasn’t changed here yet because I found the approval notice under the documents but we are officially approved. I hope everyone to get their approval soon enough so they can be with their loved ones and build their future families.

I485 status hasn't changed since October 2021 after they've received my evidence. Atlanta FO.

I-130 and I-485 Approval - New Trend of 2023 for Green Card
I wanted to let you know of new pattern of approvals for IR-1 category if the application is straight forward, not complex, no red flags, enough evidences irrespective of Field office.
1) They pre-approving EAD and right after BioMetrics, EAD card is mailed out.
2) No interviews for applications without red flags.
3) They approving I-130 and I-485 at the same time but if they think they need more evidence of Bonafide Marriage, they will RFE and you ship all the documents. If medical is missing, they approving I-130 and issue RFE to I-485.
4) They maybe taking action on case in the backend( you can’t see the status on portal yet until it’s published) when it’s actively reviewing and/or when you get RFE. Cases are getting approved by default once someone verified the required RFE when you mail or upload.
My suggestion to all the applicants is follow the simple steps-
1) Fill all the applications and get reviews with lawyer before sending but don’t worry about their useless advice if they ask not to send pictures or not to send Medicals but no need to hire a lawyer but it’s good to hire one for G-28
2) Send ALL the Bonafide documents including pictures, affidavits, lease, property documents, utilities, and tons of all the evidences along with Medicals.
3) YOU MAY BE APPROVED SUPER QUICK WITHOUT RFE.
