hello, does anyone have any information on where or how I can start school again without needing a valid social security? I graduated high school in 2015. I want to continue my education in IT / computer science, or pharmacy tech. where can I start even if it’s a course? my husband whom I have 2 kids with and have been with over the past 6 years, is trying to fix my statues, so I’m patiently waiting on that. thanks

Switching to EAD while 140 is pending

I am on H1b visa and my spouse on L1A. His employer started GC process, I-140 /485 is pending but received EAD/AP. My h1b will max out in 5 months, can I switch to a new job on GC-EAD. Will it cause any issues since primary beneficiary’s 140 is pending. Pls suggest, I am thankful for your forum and guidance.

Hello I need the community's help with an issue. I have now made three trips to the Broward county DMV, each time having to wait at least a month for an appointment. Each time I visit they tell me I'm missing a document and each time I get it and return it's something else. I am trying to get a driver's license. I'm currently in the process of adjusting status. I completed biometrics in October. I brought all my receipts, I797, I485, I130, marriage license, birth certificate for myself and husband. Stamped I797 with biometrics attached, Passport, results of the written driver's test a copy of my driver's license from my country of birth. Now I go back today, the clerk is telling me I need to have a I130 approval notice. How would I have that if I'm currently adjusting status? Does anyone have any recommendations on what I could do? Thank you

Question about Applying for a job.

So hi, my EAd just got approved and I am planning to apply for a job. I have my SS card (I got it when I was still in J1 visa) I am married to USC. and I’m wondering if I can start working already. I just called SSA office for changing my name and to remove my J1 restriction on my SS card. So.. can I start working once I get my ead?

Changing the job after GC & Naturalization

Hi, what’s the implication on naturalization if one changes the job shortly after receiving the green card ? I have seen some advice that says to wait for at least six months after getting the GC before changing the job, otherwise there will be a question at the naturalization interview. But no one spelled out what the implication really is. Would it be just a matter of answering why I changed the job & how the timing coincided?

do you need EAD if you are a granted asylee?

my EAD has expired but I heard that I might not even need it if I’m a granted asylee. so what would be considered a proof for employment then? I-94 and SSN? and did anyone go through that? how do employers react and if they now.

How delay is it to receive SSN?

Good morning lawfully family, I received my combo Nov 1, and on the USCIS website, it states SSN should arrive within 7 business days, I understand Covid impacts quite a bit, but I’d love to have an idea of how long it might take. I’ve also tried calling field office, but they said first time SSN was not trackable. Thanks ahead for answering my question! update: my local SSA office finally returned my call and scheduled an appointment for me and my husband next week, USCIS didn’t apply ssn for us even we checked on the form that we needed one. #ssn #combo

L2 visa holder work authorization

Recent announcement by USCIS “As of November 12, 2021, USCIS considers E-1, E-2, E-3 and L-2 dependent spouses employment authorized incident to status” Does this mean L2 are eligible to work starting 12th Nov? Do they still need EAD or need to wait for I-94 updates

Do I need both EAD and SSN before getting a job?

Hi guys, I applied for EAD and SSN at the same time Feb 10 2021, and I got my EAD 3 weeks ago. SSN never arrived. I called SSA and the closest appointment will be next 2-4 months. I live in Houston and called several places already. My question is: can I get a job with my EAD and then add my SSN later? 2-4 months is a long time for someone who has financial issues like me 🥲 Thanks!
