currently on 2 year condition GC; what happens if when I filed 751 it takes forever?
thanks in advance for the help here. I just got my conditional marriage based Gc a few months ago and learned that I’ll need to file a 751 to remove conditions by the end of year 2 of my current GC. looking at processing times today I’m not optimistic the backlog gets significantly better by the time I have to file the 751. my question is…if the 751 process takes a year or 2 - what happens to my status in th the US? can I still work? can I travel overseas?

yes you can still work and when you apply they send you the receipt and you have to carry all the time and that receipt will extend your greencard for 24 months and you can live , work etc

I have a question regarding this… mine marriage is also under 2 years and case is currently pending in NVC under c21 category… however within a couple of days mine marriage will be above 2 years… when times come to issue an immigration visa… will they give 2 year conditional or 10 years?… any idea?

Hey Jv m, once you have a 2 years GC. Any interview after the 2 years marriage mark frame will enable you to have 10 years upon renewal automatically.

@jv if your immigrat visa is approved and you come into the country after your marriage is 2 years and above, you will receive the 10 year greencard in the mail

if the 751 takes almost an year you will be automatically eligible for citizenship after 2 years and 9 months. file for that too. if your n400 comes up first 751 will be closed with benefits received by other means. so good for you.

my i751 took so long for like almost 4 years, filed 2018, i also filed n400 since 2020, with the hope it’ll pushed the cases moving fast together. nothing happen until feb 2022 i decided to do all the e-request and everything and uscis finally give me a intwrview, likely a combo since i have a n400 interview next tuesday. just know you can travel while waiting for your 10 year green card by the extension letter.
