Case Processing
just some information to share
I went to an infopass appointment yesterday and spoke with a supervisor regarding my case and he mentioned few things I thought I would share:
- when an interview waiver is received - that’s typically an automatic letter that is generated by the system. however, if USCIS finds something that they need to verify later on the aejudation process they will request an interview
- he also confirmed NBC has jurdisction to make adjudication on any I-485 so cases are not always sent to field office but it happens very often
please advise - how to prioritize
hello ,
I applied for AOS and EAD concurrently last September (9/11/2024) under EB1C category.
submitted biometrics on Oct 7,24. case remains pending for me both 765 and 485.
my spouse and dependent child however received EAD cards as well as received a confirmation that Their case went to Field office .
My EAD case was transferred to Nebraska , 485 is still at NBC. it has been 4.5 months. is there anything I can do to expedite the case ? I’m trying to leave my employer (on L1 visa) and move to a different one. can anything be done? atleast EAS approval will give me some assurance that there’s nothing wrong with my application .
please advice what can I do - any suggestions are welcome .

We passed our visa interview! Here’s how you can too
#djibouti #yemen #Yemen #Djibouti
My wife got her visa today and my son got his emergency passport last week.
I will explain to you everything I wish people explained to me about the visa process. It was tough finding guidance and answers during our application process because everyone is worried about theirs to care and once they get the visa they don’t help others.
After this post I’ll answer a few questions you may have but I’ll try to answer everything in this post. Then I’ll delete this app because we won’t be needing it anymore :)
1.) We expedited our case on the basis of medical emergency, we were rejected 2 times before help from local congressmen then it was accepted.
2.) after you get the official appointment email, if you have kids who are not citizens email the consular about setting up your kids appointment a day or couple days before the visa appointment. This is helpful as you can go in with your spouse to speak with the consul. To set up your kids Passport/CRBA appointment you will fill out DS-11 for passport and eCRBA for CRBA. You will pay online $100 for the eCRBA, but for the passport you can pay at the interview. When you are prompted to set up an appointment date while you are filling out eCRBA applications skip that step, you will email the consular post directly with a copy of your eCRBA and DS-11 to set up your child’s appointment as you please. As we said pick a date before your spouse appointment by a day or 2. All the documents you use to fill out the eCRBA bring originals with you to show the consular. During interview at the end if you are in a hurry to travel ask for emergency passport. It is printed very quickly.
3.) Travel to Djibouti at least a week and a half before the visa appointment. Djibouti is expensive so there is no need to come a month before like some people. Most importantly get your medical done as soon as you arrive. Make sure to get passport photos taken (at least 5 for visa applicant, 4 are needed for the medical) Results usually take 3-4 days but you never know with delays can be a week so safe option is to do at least week and a half prior. The applicant will do the medical at Dr. Georgialis Nicolas (some call him Nicola). Tell the taxi Dr Nicola most will know exactly where. It’s across the street from Assemblée Nationale (you can look that up on google maps) the medical is 500 dollars and it’s a chest X-ray, blood draw, vaccines, urine test and vision test. Come back for the results after a few days and bring them with you to the interview.
4.) ok so what documents are actually needed? So for you child’s passport and CRBA you will need the following...
- 2 by 2 inch picture of the child (passport type)
- email confirmation printed of child’s appointment
- printed pictures of the child (from birth to present, also include family photos of you guys together)
- eCRBA confirmation page printed
- DS-11 prefilled printed
- child’s birth certificate and official translation
- your child’s passport
- both parents passports
- American parent’s citizenship certificate
- American parent’s proof of physical presence (school transcripts, W2s, expired passports, things to show that you lived in America for a while)
- Parents marriage certificate and translation
5.) for your spouses visa interview they will need..(make sure photo copies are not double sided, for big papers photocopy them on 2 papers
- one 2 by 2 passport photo
- printed email interview date confirmation
- Confirmation page (found on CEAC, paper with bar codes)
- Passport
- Photocopy of passport
- Police report (new one I believe within 6 months, or a year...not sure)
- Photocopy of police report
- birth certificate and translation and photocopies of both
- Marriage certificate and translation and photocopies of both
- Affidavit of support (sponsors affidavit if you have one)
- Evidence of the marriage (photos together, wedding photos, screenshot about 10 WhatsApp chat between you 2 and print, money transfer receipts..etc what ever else that you have to prove the marriage)
What will your spouse be asked during the interview? From our interview and asking people who interviewed before us these are the most common questions asked (memorize the answers to these...also don’t go on and on answer the questions to the point without taking too long)
- what is your spouse full name?
- Where does your spouse work in America?
- What is your spouse’s address in America?
- Can you tell me a little about your spouse?
- When was the marriage?
- How did you guys meet?
- how many brothers and sisters does your spouse have and what is his parents names?
- What is the last time your spouse traveled?
- Who is your sponsor (if you have a sponsor affidavit of support)
After the interview if they give you a white paper and say congratulations and take your passport, you’re good, check your status on the link listed on the white paper. When it says “Issued” go to the pickup window Monday Wednesday or Thursday at 2pm to pickup. It will take 1-3 days for the status to change. Very important after the interview the status will say “Administrative Processing” don’t be worried, this is necessary processing all visas go through before they are printed if you were given a white paper and you passed your interview disregard the administrative processing status. If you were given a yellow paper only, that is the true administrative processing. That means you are missing something and they need more information from you. This process can take weeks to months. Our case was unusual. My wife was given a white paper and a yellow paper. The counselor explained that it is not administrative processing. Rather, we had to follow the instructions on the yellow paper. Send an upload to CEAC and then send an email. After we did this her visa was printed the next week.
All in all don’t worry to much. A lot of people passed when I was there. The people who try to scare you and say that more people fail then pass are not telling you the truth. The honest truth is if you are 100% with all your papers, you have all the originals and you are organized and interview well you will pass. It’s typical of Yemenis trust me I know to be unorganized and missing papers and expect them to print their visa. It doesn’t work like that. Please be organized and don’t miss a paper and inshallah you will pass.

I-485

Departed before advance parole document was produced but after approval
Hello ,
I have a concern, I departed the US before my advance parole document was produced but it was approved two days before my departure. my brother has shipped me the advance parole and it is in my hand right now. will that be an issue for my re-entry or adjustment of status ?
