Case Processing
Had my green card marriage interview (Brooklyn FO) yesterday. Held for review.
Any similar experiences?
The interview was pretty smooth. The officer was nice, and didn’t ask any complex questions. He asked for all the additional evidence we wanted to add, and we gave him literally everything we had. He asked to see pictures with family, and we provided many. Also the pictures of trips we’ve made together (we travel a lot) and he seemed happy with all.
The questions were basic:
To petitioner USC:
- whats your full name
- whats your DOB
- full address
- how long you’ve been living this address
- what was your address before
- how did you meet your spouse
- how long did you date before getting married
- what does she do for work
To beneficiary (F1):
- whats your full name
- whats your DOB
- whats your full address
- you came as a student, what did you study and where? Did you graduate?
- what does your spouse do for work?
- since when does he work there?
Nothing crazy, when we were giving the documents and photos he was talking to both of us, like normal conversation. At the end he said he was about to wrap up the interview, and asked if we had any questions for him. We basically said no, but wanted to know what are the next steps.
He said: the reason you had to come for the interview its because you didn’t provide sufficient evidence with your application (which is true, we didn’t have much joint stuff when I sent the application, but now we do) today you gave me more things, so I need to review your documents and you should hear back from us. We asked when should we expect an update and he said we typically say 120 days but it should not be long. And handled the paper saying that our case is being held for review.
He was very nice, didn’t seem suspicious or worried about us. As he escorted us out, I asked if I could give a call if I didn’t hear back within 120 days, and he even joked: “absolutely, you can call and asked what the heck is happening to my case that is taking so long” we all laughed and left.
Anyone had a similar experience? How long it takes to get an update?
Thank you!

I had to try, LOL
If someone is thinking about reaching the Office…,
I did the last week and this one too, just pretending I have no idea about my case to see if they give me a heads up…
But the answer was (what I already knew), to wait until the end of this year basically to reach them! LOL
But I had to try, :D

I got married on 15th January 20203 and it’s been above 365 days of applying my green card but still no response from uscis . me and my husband has started fighting alot because of long distance . and it’s such a shame for American government that they keep married couple away for so long . me and my husband are so frustrated , we literally fight everyday and considering divorce . I really love my husband . I feel sad that we couldn’t stay with each other like a normal married couple because of uscis lazy people . shame on u uscis

APPROVED!🎉🥳🎊
Our I-485 got approved today! It did take 939 days, but I’m glad it’s over now. We didn’t anticipate this long of a wait as our case was suppose to be a simple straight forward one. I’m a U.S. citizen and husband was on an F-1 visa for college since 2017. We started starting in 2018 and got married in 05/2021. After submitting everything concurrently in 09/2021, we got our biometrics done in 10/2021 but after that our case was stuck on “actively reviewing” since 11/2021 and it wasn’t until we filed a writ of mandamus in March of this year that they processed everything. We had to redo our medical since it’s been over two years, but I’m happy they waived the interview. I hope that everyone will receive good news soon!
