6 weeks after Interview!! finally approved!! 😭😭
Indianapolis FO. No RFEs.
Took 7 months to get Bio appt!! I made multiple inquires. when my I-131 became “out of normal
processing time” I made a case inquiry and shortly after got scheduled for Bio. if you filed for combo and one of them is out of normal processing, make as many inquires as you can (I think Bio is faster now no?)
I think A week after Bio, I was scheduled for interview. As soon as I got the notification, I chatted with an agent through Emma to know the interview date ( if you can’t tell, my patience was running thin lol).
Interview day. Right before I sat down he gave me the white paper saying he will not make a decision today ( I was so bummed out especially seeing others get approved on the spot wit the same FO). my officer was so mean😭, he asked simple questions but each question was loaded with unnecessary minute details. At a point, he was almost yelling at me because I answered I don’t know to one of the questions he asked, he wouldn’t take I don’t know for an answer, (like I’m going to be honest and say I don’t know!) Never lie, better to say you don’t know than make up something on the spot. he kept pressuring me and trying to feed me answers . I think I spent almost an hour in there. with my partner it wasn’t that long.
The waiting: this was the hardest part, everyday i vehicles Reddit and Facebook and saw people posting how they were approved on the spot by the same FO, or very shortly after interview. I started imagining the worst case scenario. eventually I decided to move on hoping they would get to me eventually ( it was hard but I had to , for my mental health). Then after over a month of silence , I decided to try making an inquiry, I wasn’t expecting this to work because they do have 120 days to make their decision. I did it anyways, I make a request to get a call from a Tier 2 officer.
Officer called me after a while and I explained to her that I want to know the status of my application, I completed my interview, if they need anything just send me an rfe so I can move on with my life dammit! she was very nice and understanding and she forwarded my inquiry to the FO. I was expecting a generic answer but about a few days later, I suddenly got notification that nee card was being produced!! finally the wait is over. Hallelujah!! #i-485 #interview #approved #greencard

Just wanted to share my timeline with you guys!! Thanks for the help. Charlotte - NC. = We got at the interview earlier so we had to wait outside (which was really hot), they let we in just 10 min before our time which was 12:10pm. We went through the security and everybody was very nice. We took our shoes and belts of. Got in with the officer, he was very nice. We took a oath and he started asking my medical exam and going through everything from the form I130 asking my husband about job/financial stuffs (which we gave proof of 3 lasts paystubs). After he went through form I485 and asked if I wanted to change my name and specifically to me everything that was there about me. Following that he started to ask how we meet, asked to him if i had a sibling and if he meet my family before and where they leave, asked same thing to me and if I had a good relationship with my husbands family, Who cooked the most and if we wanted to have kids on our own (he has kids from past marriage) - asked to him about kids schedules from parents house too. He asked if I have been working here and I said every now and then (no more details than that once I still work and never got a work permit). After that he asked for more evidences and I have everything that has both of our names that we didn’t submitted with the package before, he said he didn’t want anything that I already sent (although he asked if he could keep the newest power bill and he kept the original and copy). Asked the newest w2 ( we had 2020 filled up with both names), he didn’t ask the bank statements from our joint account but I have to him anyway with our w2). I asked him if he wanted to see more proofs like pictures, cards and receipt and pictures he said no necessary. Then after that he said I would know something later on the day after he put stuffs in the system and that my greencard would be delivered 2-3 weeks , if I don’t get it in 6 weeks should I call, if I had any questions and that was it. Like 1 hour later already changed for card being produced! are today changed to case was approved!!! We are just so happy and relieved! We are together since 2017 so we have been the whole time really honest and just made sure everything that we have is real.
