Case Approved
Two Year Green Card In Hand
Thank you all for the posts and insights for the past year, this community has helped me stay informed, calm and plan well for my case. Green card was delivered on Friday, 10/15, after our interview on Thursday, 10/7
We had our interview at the Newark, NJ field office and I-485 status changed to “New Card Is Being Produced” on the same day.
Interview went well, officer pretty much told us cases like ours were easy at the beginning and the only questions asked were what the other spouse did for work, where the other spouse graduated from, the degrees, and she was asked what we did for my last birthday. He also asked how we met. and also the Yes/No questions on the I-485.
All the best to you all in your journeys!

2 last letters of the third word in my given name on the green card is missing.
My Green Card has my given name printed as 'Mad' instead of ‘Madan'. The last 2 letters 'an' of the 3rd word in my 1st name r missing. The total length in my 1st name including spaces is 20, but its trim to 18 including spaces, in all my immigration approvals and GC. Am I fine with the GC as it is now? And, will it be a problem now r later? like at port of entry, during naturalization, etc…
Is there like a character limit on the first name?
My first name should be xxxxxxx xxxxxx Madan (20 characters including 2 spaces), but is printed as xxxxxxx xxxxxx Mad (18 characters including 2 spaces).
My last name and other details are perfect!
Green card on hand in 7 months.
hi! just wanted to make a post about something since I've read about this a lot. I'm married to a US citizen and we did NOT hire a lawyer to do our papers. we did all the papers by ourselves while working full time so the only time we had was at night after dinner. We have never gotten any RFE and there were no mistakes on the application. i was approved the same day as my interview after not even 7 full months of sending my papers. This to say that you DON'T necessarily need a lawyer. My husband and I were not experts and we still did it ourselves and it wasn't that stressing. if you don't feel safe doing it yourself, definitely hire a lawyer. if you have a complicated case, hire a lawyer. But don't believe all the people that tell you that you need a lawyer so the process will go faster etc. My friend filed exactly when I filed, with a lawyer. She doesn't even have an appointment for her interview and she's gotten 2 RFEs. when i started this process everybody told me hire a lawyer, it's too hard otherwise, or it will go slower without a lawyer, etc. We saved a lot of money, we didn't get stressed out with our papers and it didn't take that long and we were approved in less than 7 months.
good luck to whoever is still in the process!
Green Card on hand!!
finally got my green card in the mail. it's the end (for now!) until we apply for removal of conditions in 2 years).
i can't believe it.. soooo happy!! my journey wasn't too long so i consider myself lucky but it was still stressful, been stuck far away from my family for years, the anxiety took over many times but everything went smoothly and now I'm finally free to work and travel and have a normal life lol
good lucky to whoever is still in the process! 🤞

Case approved, simplecitizen helped me
I did my application through simplecitizen. They did an amazing job making sure I had enough evidence and filling the forms for me. I did the cheapest one. I think there's a lawyer there too if you pay more. I don't remember.
hope all of this helps!!

02/2020 filing date. I waited a year and a half before hearing from uscis but once they sent my RFE notice 2 months ago things moved pretty fast.
It felt like I was getting a update every other week from RFE to RFE response to I-765 and I-131 approved to interview ready to be scheduled to the interview and finally the I-130 and I-485 today. all that happened in 6 weeks.
Reading you guys’post helped a lot with questions I had and I have a very good lawyer for anyone that’s in Houston Texas and need help I can refer you. Thank you all very much and good luck. My advice would be put it in the back of your head and don’t let the stress and anxiety of the wait stop your current life. It will all work out!
