Working on Pendng I765
Hello fam,
Any one ever had a job without having the EAD from USCIS?
I am so ready and capable of working like most of you and it kills me to spend my days not doing what I want to.
The debt I have accumulated while fighting my divorce are outrageous, so I am considering interviewing now in the hopes I get an offer.
Has that happen to any one? I just filed filed VAWA and also completed my Biometrics for TPS.
Both if possitive should come with an EAD.
Have an attorney for VAWA.
Thanks for any tips or recommendation
Nephew says he wants to immigrate into US as Biologist
I know that biologists and academics tend to get treated better her in the States moreso than in my home country, but I'm wondering about his possible prospects if he enters the country just as an exchange student first without a green card. Would it be possible to transition smoothly into an employment visa after his education is complete?
Quick question about American Labor Law
I've recently been promoted in my office into a full time employee, working 50 hours a week. They said that since I will be receiving a set salary from now on, there will be no overtime. However, the manager has been telling me to work sixty hours anyways. Is this legal?
Commuting to work on a bicycle for years
It certainly hasn't been easy, because the American city that I work in is decidedly not friendly to cyclists.
I don't think about work at all during the time I'm riding to the office on my bicycle. In fact, I don't think I think at all during that time! Once I arrive at the office and feel my heart rate drop from 90 to 65 bpm, I begin to work. I do work that requires all my focus for an hour fifteen, and then go for a walk to organize my thoughts for the next fifteen minutes until I return to rushing through my work again.
I do feel tired when I am going back home again, but your head does eventually feel clearer once you are racing towards home on a bicycle. Nowadays, going at 10km/hr doesn't even get me breathing all that hard.
Anyone working at Tesla Reno facility?
Hello! I got an offer from the Tesla factory in Reno, but now that I have to consider moving again from Atlanta I'm facing a lot of difficult thoughts. Tesla's rumored to drive its workers really hard, and I've mostly been working in Atlanta with my own immigrant community, using my native language. Would I be able to fit in with Tesla's work culture?
Obviously while I prefer using my native language, I am still pretty confident with my English. My salary would also rise pretty considerably, and I do think moving to Tesla would likely be better for future career paths as well. I am just looking for advice from people working for Tesla or anyone else more familiar with their workplace in Reno.
I got the job I wanted, but I only feel depressed
Hello. It's been two years since I got my dream job after a long education in the United States. It's a place that I always wanted to work in, but ever since I actually entered it, I've felt like I've reached the limits of my ability and the only thing increasing these days seem to be my stress. The big ambition and goals I've set for myself is nowhere to be found and I can only come face to face with my own tired, lifeless eyes in the mirror.
My job is an engineering-related research position. When I was going through my doctorate, the research was difficult, but also quite enjoyable. Now that I am in a corporation, however, I feel a wholly different kind of pressure to get results no matter what. I am scared of seeing my own co-workers so I spend my workdays keeping to myself, and while this is probably just all in my head, I feel like my co-workers are all being acknowledged for their abilities and progress made while I am always just on the outskirts.
I feel like the only way to improve the situation would be to produce results, so I am working hard, but I'm getting more and more tired in both body and soul every day. I was wondering if there were others in similar situation as me, and if they have any tips for reducing needless emotional burdens.
Local Vehicle Parts Manufacturing Company Interview
It was my first time taking a job interview in the States so there was a lot of parts that I was lacking in, admittedly.
After turning in my resume there was a phone interview that lasted about 10 minutes. They asked me about my current visa status, why I chose to apply to work at their company, my previous work experiences, etc etc.
After the phone interview, they arranged for an on-site interview. I just finished said interview, today.
After a very, very short interview (???) with the HR manager, I had a much more lengthy interview lasting about 20 minutes with the manager of my relevant department. He asked me things like why I wanted to leave my previous job, my work experiences and skills, how I solved the hardest problem I've encountered in my last workplace, and what I knew about my new workplace and the products that they were manufacturing. After that, he took me on a short tour of the factory itself!
He described the manufacturing processes inolved in the factory's daily operation and I asked him questions regarding what I thought were key points regarding these processes, to show that I had some expertise in the work involved and that I was very interested in what the company was doing. I believe they took my questions in a very positive light.
Once I returned from the factory tour, the manager asked me questions like the earliest time I could start working or what kind of salary I expect. The HR Manager asked me similar questions when he returned too. The HR Manager sent me away later, after telling me that I should expect a response soon.
Texas In State Tuition
I'm currently living in Texas, Austin, but I will be moving to a different state due to getting a better paying job elsewhere. I have kids though, so this is a bit more of a complicated situation. Texas clearly has more state-universities which are better, after all. If I rent out the house I have in Texas and keep paying property taxes, would it count as living in-state when my kids are ready to go to college?
Anyone here doing delivery for Uber Eats on the side?
Hello, I'm doing delivery for Uber Eats on the side. Now, my car is fully insured, but do I also need to get a commercial insurance? The policy says that I should, but do I really need to? I'm worried about my rates going up if my insurance company gets automatically notified. If you know anything, please tell me here.
