Hello All,
I wanted to ask for your advice about traveling to India. I recently finished my PhD this summer. My internship ends on July 28th. I applied for OPT on May 12th, 2026, and also upgraded my application to premium processing on July 17th, but I still haven’t received any update from USCIS.
I have accepted a full-time job that starts on September 1. My current F1 visa expires on October 12th, 2026. Since there will be about a 15-day gap between the end of my internship and the start of my new job, I am considering visiting India during that time.
Do you think it would be a good idea to travel? Are there any immigration or reentry issues I should be aware of? My OPT is still pending, but I assume it will be approved before August 15th, 2026. I’m not sure whether traveling is a good idea. I would really appreciate your guidance based on your experience.
