N-400 & I-751 Delayed – Waived Interview but Still Waiting 700+ Days – Anyone Been Through This?
Hi everyone, I’m looking to hear from others who might have had a similar experience or insights into what could be happening with my case. Here’s my situation: • I filed a joint I-751 and later applied for N-400 (citizenship through marriage). • My combo interview (for both) took place over 700 days ago with my spouse. • Since then, I’ve heard nothing — no approval, no RFE, no denial. • Recently, after calling USCIS and getting elevated to a Tier 2 officer, I was told that my interview was officially waived about a month ago and that nothing else is needed from me. • I also got an email from USCIS saying “an action has been taken on your case,” but when I logged into my account, the status still says “Case is being actively reviewed.” • My estimated wait time in the tracker briefly dropped from 5 months to 2 months, and then went back to 5 months. • Even more confusing, the progress bar moved backward from Stage 4 (“Awaiting Decision”) to Stage 3 (“Interview Scheduled”), but no new interview is actually scheduled. My attorney believes I may be under investigation (possibly flagged by the interviewing officer), and advised me to keep documenting my marriage in case USCIS shows up or reaches out. Has anyone been through something similar — waived interview after a long wait, then weird system glitches, and unclear timelines? Could this be a good sign or just internal movement? Also, is it common to get an approval after such a long delay and no further contact? Thanks in advance — I’d really appreciate any insight or shared experiences.
