Case Approved
I-485 EB3-2 ROW - Approved with Interview
Hello thought I would share my experience as it seemed a bit unusual and may help a few people. I didn't bother with EAD or AP as I didn't plan on travelling or moving jobs. I arrived in the US in 2018 on a L1B visa (extended once)
26th October 2021 - SUBMITTED i-140 (Premium Processing)
26th October 2021 - SUBMITTED i-485
15th November 2021 - APPROVED i-140
19th December 2021 - BIOMETRICS (San Jose, CA.)
Unable to take prints, all fingers showed red, tried for an hour with the lady in the office who was very helpful but ended up submitting the bad prints anyway
12th October 2022 - INTERVIEW NOTICE - Letter to appear for interview. I was expecting an interview event thought my case is simple work based as I have a previous arrest for disorderly conduct (in my home country) which I disclosed.
15th November 2022 - INTERVIEW - I had my interview in San Jose, CA.
Overall the Interview went well. The officer was very friendly and explained the whole process throughout. He started by telling me the only reason for the interview was the lack of readable fingerprints. He told me I would receive a RFE for a police clearance letter from all the places I've lived in the US. He then had me sign a form as I didn't have a lawyer with me.
The interview went over every section on the I-485. I was able to correct some mistakes. For example I had said I had no weapons training but was in the Army (silly mistake), and a zip code on one of my address was wrong. None of this was a problem, we corrected it as we went through the form. He generalized the admissibility questions and did not ask them one by one or verbatim. When it came to my arrest I explained what I remembered as it happened 20 years ago and provided a police clearance certificate from my home country showing no current record. None of this seemed a problem and the officer didn't really ask anything beyond what I told him. That was it, at the end of the interview he gave me a piece of paper and told me to wait for the RFE
21st November 2022 - RFE
Received RFE for police clearance letter in lieu of fingerprints. Luckily I have only lived in one county so visited the local Sheriffs office and paid $25 for a clearance letter. It was available for pickup 3 days later
5th December 2022 - RFE REPONSE RECEIVED
11th January 2023 - NEW CARD IS BEING PRODUCED
Please note I never got a second biometrics appointment.
Thank you
Returned to sender
My I-765 was approved in November. The EAD was sent that same month. It was sent to an old address. I used my current address on my application but the system still sent it to an old one. I tried talking to the post office but they send once it's marked as return to sender they can't track the package anymore. My EAD expires by the end of the month along with my license. I've tried talking to a live person at USCIS but I can't get any help. Has anyone experienced this? Do I have to refile and pay again? Is my card just floating out there for anyone to access?
🖐my u-visa case is from February 2018. I have recieved the notification about my work permit approval. hope this Information works for those who has a case from 2018. ✌
