Social security name change / pending EAD approval and card
hi,
I have a question in regards social security. I got married 9 months ago and I have sent all my documentation to USCIS for change of status and application for green card based on marriage. I already have a social security card from my previous visa (which says valid for work only with DHS authorization). On my i765 application I did not request a new social security thinking that I would be doing the name change quicker than USCIS.
To make my long story short, I mailed my SS5 and supporting documentation to change my name at my local Social Security. It’s been a nightmare they took forever to give me back my documents( passport, marriage certicate,i94 and i20) but no social security card. I callled them to see what’s going on and the said that they didn’t see my I20 so I mailed back to them and with my USCIS letters to show them that I’m on the process of change of status. So they mailed me back my documents and still no social security. I have been calling for months to check what’s going on and they would tell me that is on process and last time I check they told me that I have to restart the whole process because they don’t have my i20 and marriage certificate on file. this is nonsense!
According to lawfully, I supposed to get my immigration appointment date mailed soon. So I really don’t want to mail my stuff to the social security anymore (I tried to get an in person appointment still impossible). I am afraid that they lose my documents or not get them back on time by the time I have my immigration appointment. is there any way that I can request a new social security card through USCIS? or is it better to reapply once I get my EAD approval and card?
thank you your answers will be appreciated
Field Office closed on day of interview. what’s next?
Today had marriage based GC interview at the Washington office which was closed due to facility issue.
The security guard said they will call and email with new dates.
Has this happened with anybody else?
if so, how long does it take to reschedule? do they send physical mails? how late will things get?
thanks in advance
citizenship
hello
i have a question. I’m an Latin America citizenhip and I planning to apply to US citizenship in the next years. I’m also with an european citizenship running, that most likely will be issued before I can get the US one.
can my european citizenship impact me somehow to obtain the US citizenship in the future?
