When filing for a greencard through a greencard holder spouse, does the beneficiary have to maintain lawful immigration status in the US while the case is processing or is it similar to a US citizen petitioner where they your immigration status is allowed to lapse. thanks for your help with this!

My PD is 03/22/21 for I-130 for my spouse. First i got a message from USCIS saying that my case was to be processed at Nebraska Service Center.Then i got a mail with the California Service Center at the bottom of the notice . April 7 2021 i got a message saying it was actively being reviewed.I called USCIS today and asked about my processing center.2 of 3 agents told me my case was moved to Vermont and one told me it is still in California.I texed with two other online agents and they told me it is in California Service Center.Which one should i trust ?
