Just had my greencard interview!
Hey everyone hope you are all okay. So I am the beneficiary and filed in June 2023, I was adjusting from a B2 visa to marriage based greencard. My interview was today and yesterday parole was issued 😶 anyways.. I cant believe it. The interview was so parallel to the experiences I have read of and seen online. I am still in shock. Our interviewer was a sweet elderly man, he was African American and I am African. Believe me it felt like i was at my grandpas just updating him on how life has been. He was genuinely kind and warm and really the main question he asked was how we met which I responded to as he flipped through our original certificates. He then asked questions from what we had explained like when we first saw each other, when we first met, where we married, the date, just naturally as we explained. The documents he asked for was our lease (im not on the lease) joint taxes we filed and he kept them and our joint bank account statements which he also kept. He asked to see some wedding pictures also as he was having trouble locating them on the computer, so I showed him our album which he appreciated and I explained some other pictures from the album briefly that showed my family virtually witnessing our wedding. He then asked about 5 or 6 questions from the security questions to make sure I had filled in correctly and then said all is done we can ask any questions. I was shocked coz I was expecting to be tested on who sleeps on which side of the bed etc lol so yea I asked what the next step was and he explained. It was a basic approval and he further explained that the greencard would be issued but would take some weeks. However, he could not see my medical documents and said if he cant trace them unfortunately he will have to send an RFE and I redo. 😪 Actually I got an RFE last November for medical exam and thats why I even sent them. I had heard of missing medical exams and thats why I originally didnt file them and was hoping to just carry for the interview. Anyways after I sent them they were received and acknowledged. So im shocked they are not on file. However, I stay positive that the hard part is behind us and we will try to have the civil surgeon issue another if we get another RFE or that. God has been good and to him I give the glory 🙏
