Government Looking At Bringing In Tougher Porn Laws
Zoe Crowther
@zoenora6
Exclusive: The government is exploring tougher regulation of online pornography as part of a broader push to make the internet safer, but there are internal divisions over how far to go and who would be responsible for enforcement.
Senior figures in the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and the Home Office are pushing for a stronger regulatory and criminal law approach, with No 10 also broadly sympathetic to tighter controls, PoliticsHome understands.
However, government sources have said the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) is more cautious about imposing tougher guardrails on online content.
TELL YOUR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS TO REIN IN ICE NOW
On January 24, federal forces with the Department of Homeland Security killed Alex Pretti in Minneapolis. This was just over two weeks after the killing of Renee Nicole Good. These killings are a direct result of unchecked violence, impunity, and abuse carried out by federal immigration enforcement agencies against members of our communities.
And yet, the DHS appropriations bill that is up for a vote in the Senate this week would hand MORE funding to ICE and Border Patrol, and do little to rein in their abuses.
We must demand our senators—especially our Democratic senators—refuse to give ICE one more penny of taxpayer money or vote for any funding bill that doesn’t get ICE and Border Patrol out of our cities.
Specifically we are asking that Senators withhold their votes from any legislation funding DHS unless it:
Stops ICE and Border Patrol from receiving more funding
Restricts ICE and Border Patrol’s ability to target people based on their race, language or accent, place of employment, or location at the time of the apprehension
Stops ICE or Border Patrol enforcement at designated ‘sensitive locations’ such as houses of worship, day cares, and hospitals
Stops ICE or Border Patrol from family detention or increasing private detentions
Ends Border Patrol deployment to our cities and rejects its ever-expanding mandate in immigration enforcement
Use this tool to instantly contact your Members of Congress with a clear message: Protect our communities by reining in ICE NOW.
The email to your Members of Congress:
Dear Senator/Representative,
As your constituent, I urge you to refuse to vote for any appropriations bill for the Department of Homeland Security that fails to rein in ICE and Border Patrol and protect our communities.
Alex Pretti and Renee Good’s killings are unacceptable. Enough is enough. This is a result of unchecked violence, impunity, and abuse carried out by federal immigration enforcement agencies. You cannot stand by while ICE continues to harm communities across the country.
As a member of Congress, you have the power to limit the administration's abuse of power by:
Refusing to vote for any FY2026 appropriations bill that includes increased funding for ICE or Border Patrol, including funds for detention. The existing system allowed at least 32 people to die in custody in 2025 alone, the deadliest year ever, while thousands of others suffer physical and sexual abuse, medical neglect, and degrading conditions.
Refusing to vote for any appropriations bill for DHS unless it:
Stops ICE and Border Patrol from receiving more funding
Restricts ICE and Border Patrol’s ability to target people based on their race, language or accent, place of employment, or location at the time of the apprehension
Stops ICE or Border Patrol enforcement at designated ‘sensitive locations’ such as houses of worship, day cares, and hospitals
Stops ICE or Border Patrol from family detention or increasing private detentions
Ends border patrol deployment to our cities and rejects its ever-expanding mandate in immigration enforcement
Every member of Congress must insist on real limits and accountability before any funding is approved.
Thank you for your time, and I hope to see you standing up for the safety, dignity, and rights of all people in our communities.
EB2-NIW approved
Hi guys, my case was approved on 20th August 2025. It was filed by the Chen associates. I was thinking of applying for PP due to the extensive backlog, but later I decided to be patient. The case was approved without an RFE.

EB1 Indian I-485 Approved from CRP Status - Priority Date Issue Resolved
Timeline:
PD: Nov 2019 (ported from EB2)
I-485, EAD, AP filed: Oct 10, 2024 (paper-based filing)
Biometrics: Nov 10, 2024
EAD approved: Dec 10, 2024
AP approved: April 10, 2025
Case transferred to non-local field office: May 20, 2025
The CRP Issue:
July 10: Case status changed to "We are temporarily pausing work on your application because an immigrant visa number is not immediately available to you."
July 15: Contacted Congressman and requested Tier 2 officer callback through Emma live agent
July 18: Received USCIS response: "USCIS received application for adjustment of status on October 10, 2024. At the time the application was filed, an immigrant visa number was immediately available. Since the application was filed, however, the final action date listed in the Visa bulletin has retrogressed or become unavailable. At this time, a visa is not available to the applicant which would allow them to adjust status. As a result, the application will be held in abeyance pending visa availability. Following is information that you may find helpful in understanding and explaining the visa allocation process and how it affects applications for adjustment of status."
The Breakthrough:
July 23: Received Tier 2 officer callback - the officer was incredibly patient and spent 30 minutes investigating. After 20 minutes of research, he discovered that my I-485 had NO priority date in the system, and it had defaulted to my filing date (Oct 10, 2024) instead of my actual priority date (Nov 2019). The officer created a case for NBC to correct my priority date and confirmed I'd receive email notification.
July 25: Received email confirmation about the case submitted to NBC
July 28: Got update from NBC: "Recently, you notified USCIS that your priority date is current. When your priority date becomes current, your case automatically returns to active processing and will be worked in the order in which it was received. Once further action is taken, a notice will be sent to the address of record."
July 29: Spoke with Emma live agent again and created another service request to NBC for priority date correction
Resolution:
Aug 1: Case updated to "New Card being produced" 🎉
I was considering filing a Mandamus lawsuit after waiting 2 more months, but fortunately the case got approved. For anyone stuck in CRP status, I highly recommend reaching out to USCIS through multiple channels - Congressman, Tier 2 officer callbacks, and Emma live agents. Persistence pays off, and one of these channels will eventually help resolve your issue.

EB2 INDIA APPROVED 485! IOE09260XXXX
Today, is my day! After almost 15 years of waiting (Sep 2010 PD), my 485 is approved. It's been a journey. I will say that https://www.casestatusext.com/ is a reliable source of determining worst case scenario for your specific block number. I used it to track mine, which at the worst case would've gotten to mine by mid-June, but here I am luckily not at the end of the queue :)
My biometrics and interview were all waived. My case was at Seattle FO since end of August. I received my EAD and AP in August before the 485 was transferred to the FO. I'm not a resident of WA. #APPROVED #i485
Happy to answer questions, keep the faith!

i751 - 2020 applicant, case finally approved!!
I filed & received USCIS confirmation for i751 on Aug 10, 2020. Case has been pending since, on March 20, 2025, my case is finally approved! Yes, nearly 5 years!
I've done countless follow ups via USCIS hotline, 3 ADIT stamp for international travel, reached out to local rep for help. None of the above helped, also I didn't want to apply N400 and change my nationality.
As a last resort, I filed for case assistance through CIS Ombudsman. In 30 days, I received a notification that my i751 has been approved and new card mailed to me.
Wanted to share my timeline here, for anyone who's on the same journey, know that although this isn't an easy process and sometime (often) can be discouraging, have faith don't lose hope and hang in there!!

H1b approved but spouse on F2
Hi My H1-b has just got approved and my sevis ID has been canceled, when I applied for h1-b I didn't apply for spouse and hence she is still in F2 status. My question is that since the primary is not on f1 has she gone out of status? is there a grace period where I can apply immediately for h4, is she recurring unlawful presence days until then?

Sharing a tool that'll make life easy to travel with Refugee Travel Document
Hey everyone,
My trip with the refugee travel document was not the smoothest like everyones since it is quite a pain to go through check-in etc. not only did they always think I needed a visa everywhere, they even weren't sure I could return to the US with that document so Rule 1: Go to the airport early!
Secondly, I've worked as an immigration paralegal for many years and have created a community where I'll be sharing the link of the tool #airlineemployees use to check if you need a visa. That's a lifesaver when you go to check in and wherever you meet any issues but also when you are in doubt.
I shared the tool in this group: https://www.skool.com/uscis-immigration-usa-7208
the tool is also valid for any other document including re-entry permit etc.
P.S. I also expecited it so happy to answer any questions on expediting as well
