End of EB3 Unskilled
I made this comment in an EB3 Unskilled group, where I present some data.
Hello, I'd like to establish some statistics. Let's go through the numbers of Green Card EB3 Unskilled issued per fiscal year:
- 4,310 - 2019
- 5,549 - 2020
- 4,885 - 2021
- 8,894 - 2022 (in this year, we were already in retrogression, and there were 1,106 visas wasted. But it's okay; immigration needs to be cautious not to hit the visa cap, so it's possibly safer not to reach the limit of 9,999).
In the fiscal year 2023, the visa bulletin started the PD in June 2020 and began the next fiscal year with the priority date for August 2020. So, during this short period, did immigration not have visas available? It seems unlikely, considering that the numbers of approved LCs during this time were the same as in other years. There was only a significant increase in LCs in 2022. Assuming that immigration advances one month every three months, and there was an increase in LCs in 2022, this will become a snowball effect, with the EB3 process taking about 7 years.
The annual quota for EB3 Unskilled is 10,000 visas per year because America bases this number on the need for this amount of workers annually. As we have a crisis at the border, we know that about 2.5 million people came through the border last fiscal year. Assuming only 0.5% received a work permit for the asylum process, we would have 12,500 people annually working in unskilled jobs. Yes, unskilled jobs because most do not have proficiency in English or any qualifications.
So, I presume this might be the end of EB3. I filed my process at 20 years old, hoping to do something legal, as I had no qualifications and didn't want to pay international student tuition for college, which are much more expensive. Now, I'm 23 years old and feeling hopeless. Anyway, I really hope to be wrong.
