VAWA based GREEN CARD APPROVED, NO INTERVIEW
Here's a quick summary of my journey. Jan 2020 - reached out to an attorney. He suggested applying for VAWA. For the next 3 years, I'd get a lot of EAD every year, sometimes with gaps which resulted in the employer laying me off due to no work authorization. I wasn't able to travel either until I finally received my travel permit I-131 in April 2022 which was valid for one year until April 2023. Mar 2023 - VAWA petition approved. Aug 2023 - I-485 RFE - medical exam Nov 2023 - Today I received an email from my lawyer with a photocopy of my green card. I checked MyUSCIS and it confirms that my I-485 was approved last week. This was my journey of about 4 years from the beginning of applying for VAWA until my green card was approved. There's another 5 years before that where I had to deal with USCIS, spouse, divorce, etc. that part was all done without a lawyer and I wish I had picked one sooner. After 9 years my struggle finally ends and I am a free person who can travel and see the world. It seems like my green card was approved without needing to do an interview. I-360 VAWA finally approved after 9 years journey, need advice
My journey started in 2014. Fast forward to early 2020 when I decided to apply for VAWA because things didn't work out as it should. I had my EAD every year renewed while I was waiting. However, due to COVID the extension renewal didn't come in time last year so I got laid off and unemployeed since Aug 2022. Reached out to congresswomen and filing for expedite didn't help either. __________________________________ Today my I-360 after 3 years, finally got approved! With that, the approval letter says that my EAD will be sent to me seperately. I am not celebrating yet because I don't have the green card in my hands yet. The whole point of this post is to ask others who are in similar position: What's next? How long is the waiting time for the actual interview? And how difficult is the interview process? #vawa #ead #i360 #greencard

I485 Approved: Spouse of Green Card Holder
Currently on H1b 05/2021 Got married 07/2021 Applied 08/2021 Missed a date for Biometrics after changing mailing addresss 10/2021 Recieved a notice with a new date for Biometrics 12/2021 Biometrics 02/2022 EAD card approved - No combo card (I 131 not approved yet) 03/2022 Received an interview notice 05/2022 Interview at Newark USCIS - I485 Approved a day after the interview Still I131 not approved: Case got closed 3 days after I485 approved. Interview - Waited 2 hrs at USCIS and had the interview for est 30min - Interviewer asked to show pictures of us with friends or/and family and any joint docs like lease, insurance, etc and scanned all docs I provided. - Since Im pregnant, I was asked to provide a doctor’s notes & pictures - Interviewer was really nice; she told us at the end of the interview that she’s gonna ask for approval after submitting all docs today. But ill receive a 2 yrs temporary green card as our marriage has not been 2 yrs yet. She asked us to send a birth certificate to USCIS after baby is born so that I can get longer one(10 yrs green card). Interview Questions Husband - What’s name of parents in law - Name of wife’s current company? - When did you propose? - Anniversary date? Green Card in hand finally. Thanks God and thanks to the wonderful lawfully community.
We are finally done with this super long journey that started back in Dec 2017. 1st motion to reopen received on 5/21/21. Case got reopened on 5/2/22 and GC production ordered the same day, approved on 5/3, mailed on 5/5, picked up by USPS on 5/6. GC received on 5/7, 5 days from case reopening. Saying we’re happy is an understatement. We’re grateful to God for allowing us to reach to this point. These last 6 months have been crazy with the last 3 being super intense (we had to take over as lawyer kept saying to wait indefinitely without doing anything). We submitted (alone): -6 cases inquiries (4 completed with no responses) -1 tier 2 call received after 6 weeks of request just to get the wrong directions such as I-290b filing while case was never denied. -2 congressional inquiries (which worked for EAD and AOS) -New motion to reopen drafted and sent to FO (Initial one filed by lawyer was silent for almost a year) -2 expedited requests (1 successful) -FOIA request (Received) -Medical interfiled 11 days before GC approval. -Multitude talks through Emma (Some more confusing then others).
