Interview after legal separation.
I apply to remove my condition on my green card 2 years ago and apply for naturalization by the end of last year 2024. During the processing time, me and my wife went through some rough time and ended up separated but not divorced yet. After the separation, I received a mail from USCIS stating that my interview is scheduled for both condition removal and Naturalization. I wonder what's going to happen if my wife doesn't show up in the interview with me. Please advise.

don’t freak out man. just be truthful. you have nothing to hide. it would be more suspicious to me to bring her and hacer pretend when in reality it could raise red flags. just tell them the truth and you should be good to go.

@Ibrahim Ahmed Ibrahim My sister went through exactly the same thing, and this is what happened. When she went to the interview, she told them the truth, and they told her that her interview needed to be canceled. They said she needed a waiver of the joint filing due to the termination of her marriage, and the first requirement for that is being divorced. They asked her to get a divorce in order to change the status of her application so she could apply for the waiver. They also told her that since she was already legally separated, she couldn’t apply for citizenship after three years, because to apply, she needs to have shared marital life until the oath of allegiance and she had to wait five years to apply for citizenship instead. So, knowing this information, you can decide what to do

@Ibrahim Ahmed Ibrahim Going through the entire process of getting divorced and everything else took her the full five years because they also asked for more evidence. She sent affidavits, and then they scheduled the interview. At the end, Everything went well, and they granted her permanent residency. A month later, she applied for citizenship because by that time she already had the five years and she was approved. I don’t want you to panic with this, but I do want you to be wiser in your decisions knowing my sister’s experience. My advice is to try to get back with your spouse, it will make the process much less complicated.

I am in the same situation, and because I did not bring my wife, they offered me an interview. They told me that I must bring my wife to have the conditions removed. It is either take her or take her, not leave her. @Ibrahim Ahmed Ibrahim

There are only two options, take your wife or present a divorce certificate. As a married couple, your wife should carry you. Try to talk to that woman anyway and take her. God bless you. @Ibrahim Ahmed Ibrahim
