work authorization
hello everyone. my expired work authorization card has the C09p category and the 540 days extension has C31 category. my new employer don’t employ me. they said the category don’t match so I won’t be employed. pls any explanation on it.

no for every application the category changes once your vawa approved so so co9 to c31 it’s very common

@haywhy h- if your vawa is approved then you can use c31 category EAD, if not you will use your C09P EAD that is based on I 485.1. As per the statement you said in the post you did apply renewel of C09P EAD and you got C31 EAD then it’s a problem. 2. your automatic extension is 540 days so no need to worry about loosing job, inform your employer there is a error from Uscis side and will use the automatic extension until the correct category EAD is approved.

send another I-765 in the right category ASAP C09, so you can get another receipt nitice in the right category. The error was from your lawyer. if you don’t reapply for I-765 ASAP, you’re not getting any new EAD until your VAWA is approved.
