My father is a lawful permanent resident (green card holder). Our I-130 was filed in December 2024 and by January 2027 it will have been pending for about 25 months.
Our priority date is current, my father has been living alone in the U.S. for more than 3 years, and the rest of the family is in Jordan. We only see him about once a year because travel is expensive.
Do you think these circumstances would make us good candidates for a Writ of Mandamus if the case is still pending in January 2027? Based on your experience, would a 25-month delay be considered unreasonable for an F2A consular processing case?

To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to urgently request expedited processing of the Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, filed on behalf of my son. This request is based on severe humanitarian reasons and extreme medical hardship, as outlined in the USCIS Expedite Criteria.
I am a Lawful Permanent Resident currently residing in the United States, and I have recently been diagnosed with a severe medical condition requiring hospitalization. Enclosed with this request is an official medical note from [Name of Hospital/Physician], confirming my diagnosis and the critical nature of my current health status.
The ongoing delay in adjudicating this petition is causing profound hardship. Due to my medical condition, I am in urgent need of the physical, emotional, and caregiving support that only my immediate family can provide. Having my son here to assist me during this health crisis is vital to my recovery and well-being.
Because this situation directly impacts my health and survival, I respectfully ask that USCIS expedite the review and approval of this I-130 petition so my son can proceed to the visa stage without further delay.
Thank you for your time, empathy, and urgent consideration of this request.
Sincerely,
[Father's Signature
make sure you have a doctor's note and proof.
