withdraw asylum
Is there anybody that did withdraw their asylum in person at Arlington Asylum Office? Now I have a pending VAWA and I have a pending asylum. So I have a reason to believe that I don't have threat in my country. So I want to withdraw my asylum. I have some of my friend, he told me that you can walk into the Arlington Asylum Office on Thursdays 8am to 10am and you can withdraw your asylum in person there. I just wanted to know if there are anybody in the group that did this and will this affect me in any way for my pending VAWA or will they put me in removal proceedings after I withdraw? Please, anybody there?

@cha sm yes he said correct. Every asylum office is open for public inquiry every Thursday from 8-10 and u can withdraw your application. make sure u arrive at 7am because a lot of people want to make in.

if I withdraw my asylum I can still travel outside to my home country with my combo card from vawa right ?

@cha sm yes you can travel home country with AP if you withdraw asylum application.

don’t withdraw your asylum case. you can travel by your AP to your home country any time. when you get your vawa approval And then GC you can send request for cancel your asylum case. you will send request copy of your green card . lawyer don’t recommend travel to you home country if you gonna fight for your asylum case , bc if you get your asylum application interview officer will ask you about it. don’t do it yet. wait your GC

u filed for asylum because u afraid u might get persecuted and now u filed under vawa you suddenly wanna go back to your home country? doesn’t look good

@prazzi S I'd wait to get my greencard, withdraw without prejudice and then figure things out slowly. because as @domino 23 said, it doesn't look good (not that it looks any better after greencard but still safer)

sorry @prazzi S I can't argue with what 'some say' unless that's a lawyer who said it, it's irrelevant. you can have multiple cases processed in immigration. i've seen many people withdraw the asylum, then the other application falls through and next thing they are in front of a judge on removal proceedings begging not to get deported. i'd say quit listening to what some say and 1. research uscis resources or 2. work with a knowledgeable attorney

@cha sm you can Trevel to your home country by your AP, which you got from 485. why you was travelled officer only asks you if you get your asylum interview. when you get your GC after vawa approval then you can cancel you asylum application

better hire a attorney coz I did by myself but still waiting for last 2 years application still under review
