Taking video evidence of physical abuse, reporting it to the police, and collecting evidence can be crucial steps in filing a VAWA claim. It's essential to take action and report the abuser to ensure your safety and well-being. Many others have made the same mistake of not reporting the abuser, but by taking these steps, you're already on the right track. Good luck, and remember that you don't have to go through this alone.

I did report him 5 times already but u didn’t send him to jail, the officer say if I need anything I can come to the station for it… the number on the google for immigration does it work am scared he might call them , already get a EAD card also , an I had to move out because of the abuse an he wanted me to come back but am scared but am still on a thin line not knowing if he may call them out if spit because am not back at the house

@Anita Anita I don't think him calling USCIS might affect you that much if you have enough evidence showing he is being abusive. You can check this link and be a self-petitioner: https://www.uscis.gov/green-card/green-card-eligibility/green-card-for-vawa-self-petitioner
Seems like the police officer already knows you being in an abusive environment, so maybe you can ask the officer for proof if you haven't yet?

how long have you been married? if under 2 years yes he can withdraw the petition
your only way is to have actual proof of abuse and go the VAWA route
Anita AnitaApr 21, 2024
#in gods time - yes it’s under two years, I have a lot of proof but I didn’t want to take that route because it’s way too long so I was hanging on to this one that already in , the only thing is am scared he stop the process
Anita AnitaApr 21, 2024
@K Z I have enough proof to show it’s just I didn’t want to start a new petition it take long time, but he called uscis them I have no choice but to filled it
Anita AnitaApr 21, 2024
@In God’s Time am not sure if he called but it’s possible because he already called layer an cancel her service, but I don’t want to quick to jump am with draw the one I have in right now

listen lawyer is one thing uscis is another maybe he doesn’t want to continue paying her which is to save money and once he withdraws case with uscis if he tries to proof marriage is fake then VAWA is your only long option
Anita AnitaApr 21, 2024
@In God’s Time am the one pay for my lawyer an immigration service so no that’s not it, he’s been petty an controlling that’s the reason he wants to stop it , if that’s the only way then I have no choice! am not sure if have done that thou am just saying incase he did because I no longer trust him

I am sorry for all that you are going through in your marriage. Your concern is only if he can Uscis, but the primary concern should be, what if you were called for an interview? It would help if you switched to Vawa ASAP. The 800 number on the internet is the right number for Uscis and he can call, if not called already. All the best🙏🏽

@favor me👩🏽💼 I will speak to a lawyer on that vawa
Anna JayApr 22, 2024
@Anita Anita Him removing the lawyer won't affect your case at all, I withdraw my lawyer in the middle of my case and it didn't affect it, don't waste anymore time starting the VAWA being that you are married less than 2 years, what if you get an interview request or a 2 years Greencard? which you are gonna need him in both cases giving him more power to control you. Do the VAWA and use your work permit to sustain yourself and your mental state... Abuse is never ok always remember health is wealth. Good luck.

@Anita Anita if you have all the evidence u are saying then I will ask you to keep calm n relax for now. wait n see uscis decision before you conclude on what next to do. Best wishes

hey. it's same situation with me. collect evidence, and report it, you can file VAWA I-360 petition. you can find free legal aid too
