My suggestion is: change your name during the citizenship process. The oath can take a little longer but you gonna save a lot of money. If you decide change your name later at the court, you have to pay court fee $400 average and then pay ($555)your new citizenship certificate with new name. Also, you have to pay extras like driver license, passport, or even others bills.

Can take a least 6mo. What can happen is: you can have your interview today and the judicial ceremony is tomorrow. If have any spot available they can schedule you in. Is hard to say. I already read some people was scheduled 2 months after the interview for a judicial ceremony. If you don't mind in spend a few dollars. Go ahead and don't change your name and they will give you same day oath. Then, you change at the court that takes 3 months

Other option is: if you're not scheduled for an interview yet, go to the court and file a name change. If the name change is granted before your oath ceremony you just bring the court decree and the uscis will issue a citizenship certificate with your new name. That's what I did.

But ask the officer before when is the next judicial ceremony or when you might have you oath then you can decide the best option to change your name. Good luck next week

@kiki social security number never change. If you change your name, you must notify the SS, they issue a new card with new name but same number. This number is for the rest your life
