welcome letter
I still have not received my welcome letter from NVC. How do I contact NVC to ask about where my welcome letter is?

I did that but all they said was I have to wait. I wonder if there is a phone number I can call?

There is no longer a phone number that you can call. They only respond through inquiries. I would send an email asking for an update. The welcome letter can take anywhere from 15-90 days. You will receive it through email. It all depends on how slow/fast your embassy is.

Thank you. I have waited 56 days.

@Jessica V : I saw some people and you mentioning that it all depends on how fast the embassies in respective countries are to get welcome letter from NVC. Is it not after NVC completes its process that embassy gets the application for doing the visa interview…? Once NVC completes, it forwardeds the petition to embassies and the embassies conduct interviews. Finding a time slot for interview depends on how fast and bow busy the embassy is. If they are busy and if the are short staffed, finding a date for scheduling can be hard and it will be after long time. But I still do not understand where that logic comes from that it all depends on how fast the embassies are to get the welcome letter. I will appreciate if you can provide clarification. Another question I would like to pause: So, On the approved letter from USCIS, there is this four months time. In my understanding, that is when a visa must be issued or denied, at least visa interview should be conducted. So, have you seen anyone not finding a visa interview within that interval time, becaue of embassy’s being busy or being short staffed? would embassies complete visa interview before that four months end date….? Thank you!

@Z Huan Once your case is approved by USCIS, your case is sent to NVC. Then, NVC adds your information into their system. From there, they let your embassy know that your case is ready for it to get to them. Your embassy gets your application until they have slots available… which is why it takes forever sometimes. When you receive the welcome letter from NVC, that means that your embassy is ready for you and your case. There is a 4 month limit of expiration on your USCIS approval letter. If by any chance, you do not get an interview by the 4 months, NVC or your embassy will provide an extension. You will not get another paper with an extension listed, but they will know about it because it will be in the system.

@Jessica V : Thank you! That’s a good explanation and it makes sense. Appreciated!

@Jessica V : Another question: So, when NVC says or responds to my emails “we have not received your approval notice from USCIS yet” what does it mean…? We got the approval notice from USCIS and NVC should have gotten it for sure. But even though it’s been like 5 weeks, NVC keeps saying “our record does not show your approval is received and is not in our system”. The physical letter should be in NVC office. But why does NVC say that.? Or Does receiving approval notice from USCIS mean putting that in their system? per their terminology…? because it does not make sense that whilst we received the letter from USCIS and NVC has not yet. what can you make on this issue?

@Z Huan It usually means that they have either not received it forsure from USCIS or that they have not inputted it into their system.

Same issue here. Got my I-797 Notice of Action from USCIS for the K1 visa on January 29, 2023. It’s April now and I’m still waiting for the NVC Letter. It’s been two months now, and haven’t gotten it. I wonder if the issue might have been that NVC didn’t get my new address (I moved within the same state since I filed and let USCIS know accordingly; which is why I received the I-787 letter from them) but I sent USCIS the update 9 months ago so I would think NVC has my correct address? I sent four inquiries (long paragraphs) to the NVC since then to see what’s going on, but whoever works there must be a braindead bot because they kept responding me with “we forwarded your immigrant visa petition over to the US embassy or consulate on 03 March 2023” and “if you have any questions you should contact the embassy” but hardly any useful info. No response from Embassy yet either (Ankara, Turkey) Anybody know what they mean by that? I told them I haven’t been receiving my NVC Welcome Letter each time. In fact, I haven’t been able to do any of the prerequisites like paying NVC processing fees or Affidavit of Support because they are locked behind CEAC login but how could they have sent my petition already to the Embassy? Also, on the third inquiry NVC replied to me with my NVC Case Number but not the Invoice ID number so I still couldn’t login to CEAC. I asked them to send me the Invoice ID number on the fourth inquiry and they responded to me with “We forwarded your immigrant visa petition to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate on 03-MAR-2023” again! Anybody have insights they could share?
